The Call of Duty blog has confirmed that an update is coming to Warzone on December 16 which will see the addition of a new map, a collection of new weapons, and a new game mode. This follows last week's leaks of a remaster of Blackout's Alcatraz map dubbed 'Rebirth Island'.

The leaks have all but been confirmed as the update description tells players to prepare to duke it out amongst fellow prisoners. Everything is shaping up for a remaster of the old Alcatraz and the new mode could very well be the smaller 40-player battle that was seen in the original.

This update celebrates the launch of the first season of Cold War which is receiving its own hefty update that will include new maps, 'fan-favorite 6v6 modes and playlists,' 2v2 gunfights as well as a remaster of Black Ops II's Raid.

All of this content is completely free of charge meaning that all you have to do is download the update file and boot up the game to get going. However, if you hop into Cold War between December 8 and December 15, you'll be able to net yourself two bundles.

The first is the 'field research' bundle which unlocks an epic Park operator skin, an epic SMG blueprint, an epic reticle, an epic calling card, and a rare weapon charm.

The second is the 'certified' bundle which contains an epic Garcia operator skin, a rare assault rifle blueprint, an epic reticle, and an epic weapon charm.

If the original Alcatraz from Blackout is anything to go by, then Warzone could see its new gamemode having teams of four duking it out with limited respawns until eventually there's a single squad standing. It was a smaller, tighter-knit alternative to keep the momentum going from the usual battle royale frenzy. Hopefully, Warzone will follow suit and deliver something just as fresh.
