We have a new king of the N64. No, I don't mean the best game of the Nintendo 64-era, which will remain a contested title for the rest of time. It's actually a person who beat all 296 N64 titles released in North America over the span of five and a half years.

Samuel "AceGamerSam" Girard is a retro game collector that began collecting 12 years ago. The Trois-Rivières native has an extensive collection of NES, SNES, and Sega Genesis titles, but has complete libraries of the N64 and Dreamcast. That's 296 titles released in North America, and he's played every single one of them.

And not just played: beaten. After starting his Twitch channel six years ago, AceGamerSam set out on a journey to beat every N64 game in his collection. At first this meant taking on some true classics like Banjo Kazooie and Ocarina of Time, but Sam soon realized he needed to save the best for last since while there are some all-time greats on the N64, there's also plenty of truly terrible games.

To keep things exciting, Sam turned to his viewers for suggestions on which game to play next while implementing a point system. Viewers gain more points the longer they watch his streams and can request games based on the number of points they've accrued. Crap games were worth just a few points while titles like Winback and Goldeneye 007 were worth a lot more.

Of course, Sam kept Super Mario 64 as the final game, which he played through just last month.

In an interview with the CBC, Sam said that Mario 64, Banjo Kazooie, Perfect Dark, and Diddy Kong Racing were his favorites, while games like Micro Machines and Hot Wheels: Turbo Racing were low points. Another game that was awful? "Aidyn Chronicles. It's a very long and complex game. It has potential, but it's very difficult to understand."

As for what's next, Sam plans to make his next video series all about Sonic the Hedgehog. "As soon as Sonic's character appears in a game, I have to play it," he said. So that's more than 200 games to play, some of which are compilations."
