During yesterday’s Nintendo Direct, which featured nearly 50 minutes of information on available games like Super Smash Bros Ultimate as well as games coming to Nintendo Switch in the first half of 2021, Capcom revealed the latest trailer for Monster Hunter Rise, the upcoming action RPG developed and published by Capcom for the Nintendo Switch.

The trailer, which showcases new monsters, returning favorites, two new locations, and sneak-peek at the impending Rampage, features Rakna-Kadaki and Almudron, five returning monsters, and the residents of Kamura Village joining forces to stop the incoming Rampage. After leaving the village, players can explore the Lava Caverns and Sandy Plains as well as previously revealed hunting sites.

In its description, Nintendo writes, “Set in the ninja-inspired land of Kamura Village, explore lush ecosystems and battle fearsome monsters to become the ultimate hunter. It’s been half a century since the last calamity struck, but a terrifying new monster has reared its head and threatens to plunge the land into chaos once again.”

As with previous Monster Hunter entries, players take on the role of a Hunter, who must slay or trap large monsters using weapons, tools, and environmental features to weaken them. Players can hunt alone or with friends to earn rewards that can be used to craft an array of weapons and armor. New gameplay systems, such as the high-flying Wire Action and a canine companion named Palamute, “add exciting new layers to the already robust combat that Monster Hunter is known for.”

The sixth mainline installment in the Monster Hunter series after 2018’s Monster Hunter: World, is expected to have cross-compatibility with Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin, which is planned for release after Rise. Monster Hunter: World is the fastest-selling Monster Hunter game and the fastest-selling game of any of Capcom’s properties.

Monster Hunter Rise will be released worldwide for Nintendo Switch on March 26. A special edition Nintendo Switch bundle, which will include the console and dock printed with Rise artwork along with a copy of the game, is also scheduled for release on March 26.
