It’s no secret that the world is pretty obsessed with superheroes right now. The rise of the Marvel Cinematic Universe has definitely brought superheroes into the limelight (Seriously, Disney is killing it with Marvel!) Not to mention the rise of DC TV shows like Arrow, Super Girl, and The Flash. And you can’t forget the popularity of Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, and the Flash.

Whether you loved reading the comics, or you watched the various superhero cartoons, you can’t deny that superheroes have likely been a pretty big part of your life (or you got introduced to superheroes through the recent movies, which is cool!). After all, who wouldn’t want to be a superhero?

It’s not surprising that everyone is now in love with superheroes. Some people have even thought that superheroes could be considered the modern equivalent of the Greek gods, which I could see. (Thor is a Norse God, so there’s that.) They do have this larger than life quality that surpasses humanity. And yet, we’re often reminded of their humanity all the same.

It seems like now everybody wants to be a superhero. (I don’t blame them; I totally want superpowers, though I could do without the being in constant danger aspect of it.) And plenty of cartoon fans have wondered what their favorite characters would be like as superheroes. So, what do these fans do? They make fan art, of course!

So here are 25 cartoon characters that have been reimagined as superheroes. Think we missed some good ones? Make sure to let us know in the comments below!

25 Things Are Getting Crazy In Springfield

Via: techgnotic.deviantart.com

The Simpsons is probably one of the longest-running American cartoons in history. It’s been going since 1989, and it doesn’t look like it’s stopping anytime soon (though some people think it should stop at this point.) But there’s something about this show that often keeps people going back to it, whether it’s the imperfect yet interesting characters, or the pretty funny commentary on society, The Simpsons has become pretty iconic.

Having the Simpsons as superhero characters isn’t exactly a new concept.

There actually have been a few superhero parodies in episodes (Remember Stretch-Dude and Clobber Girl?), so having the Simpsons as superhero characters isn’t exactly a new concept. I do like that this artist includes several X-Men characters like Mystique and Colossus. And the fact that there are quite a few characters just shows how many characters this series deals with.

24 They’re Going To Save Recess For Everyone

Via: brounkandeemann.deviantart.com

If you remember anything from Recess, you remember the quirky characters. Between Mikey’s love of singing, Spinelli’s attitude, or Gretchen’s quest for science, it was guaranteed that these kids would make the day interesting. So how would they be as superheroes?

I think TJ would be very good as Captain America. He has that sense of justice that makes him a natural leader among his group. And he’s always standing up for the little guy. Mikey as Thor is also surprisingly fitting. While Mikey is a gentle soul, he still does have this presence to him that you just can’t ignore. Plus, he does tend to wax poetic, which Thor is known to do as well. And if you pushed him, I think Mikey wouldn’t be afraid to fight back.

23 This Skeleton Will Judge Your Soul

Via: youtube.com (Top 25s)

I’m cheating a bit with this one since Jack Skellington is from a movie, but this was too good to pass up. Jack is a rather interesting character, being someone who had good intentions but ended up messing things up thoroughly. Jack already has this rather supernatural feel to him, being a type of living skeleton. So, to picture him as a type of superhero wouldn’t be that crazy.

I could see Jack riding around on this motorcycle with flames coming off him.

But I think Jack as Knight Rider is absolutely fantastic. It fits him completely from appearances to personality. I could see Jack riding around on this motorcycle with flames coming off of him. And he does have this rather commanding presence to him (especially when he’s angry. That tone he uses when addressing Oogie Boogie still gives me chills.)

22 It’s The Super Tunes!

Via: DCPlanet.fr, Comicartcommunity.com

Who doesn’t love Looney Tunes? Considering Warner Brothers owns both DC Comics and Looney Tunes, it’s not that surprising that there would be some crossovers. But fans have had a fun time imagining our favorite crazy characters as superheroes.

I’ll never admit I thought of Wily Coyote as Cyborg, but it does make sense in a weird way. Considering how many times he gets himself hurt in the show, having a robotic body would be a pretty good advantage. Taz as the Flash is also surprising, but it does work, since Taz can travel really fast. (though personally, I would’ve gone for Roadrunner.) I don’t know if Bugs works as Superman (he feels a little too mischievous and wily to be the Boy Scout) but to each their own.

21 When There’s Trouble, Call... Arnold?

Via: moostargazer.deviantart.com

While the characters of Hey Arnold! and the characters of Teen Titans may not have that much in common, there are more similarities than you may think. Both groups are ultimately still kids that often have to deal with everyday problems of life, like getting along with people, trusting your friends, etc.

I do like how the artist meshed the designs of both shows together.

I do like how the artist meshed the designs of both shows together, making them look like a mixture of the two. While I don’t think Arnold fits the personality of Robin, he does look pretty cool in his outfit. And I love that Gerald kept his hair as Cyborg (though I don’t know what the point of cybernetic hair would be.) If there ever was a crossover between these two shows, it would be very interesting.

20 These Guys Would Be Terrible Superheroes

Via: dead82.deviantart.com

Ren and Stimpy are as far from superheroes as you can probably get without going into villain territory. They aren’t necessarily bad people, but they’re not really good people either. I couldn’t see Ren going out of his way to help someone, and Stimpy is just too stupid to realize what’s going on. But that hasn’t stopped fans from drawing them as superheroes.

And I do like these two as Batman and Robin. Ren is definitely grumpy enough to be Batman, and Stimpy does fit the carefree attitude that Robin has sometimes. I also love this design of the two, and that Ren’s ears are part of his cowl. While I think these two would be absolutely terrible as superheroes, they probably would be pretty entertaining. The superhero community won’t know what hit them.

19 Watch Out For This Tough Woman

Via: knowyourmeme.com (Mochakitkat)

Of all the gems of Steven Universe, I would probably agree that Garnet is the toughest. She’s definitely the strong and silent type, but you can tell that she cares just as deeply for Steven as the other gems. And the fact that she can kick some major behind is pretty cool.

Both Garnet and Wonder Woman have a Lot in Common.

I can see why fans would recreate her as Wonder Woman. Both have a lot in common. They’re both warriors from a different world. They’re both very fierce, but also rather compassionate. And both of them aren’t afraid to do what has to be done to protect the world and the ones they love. If there ever was a crossover between the two, I think Garnet and Wonder Woman would get along just fine.

18 Gotham Will Never Be The Same

Via: knowyourmeme.com (KZN02)

Gravity Falls is still one of my favorite modern cartoons, and for a good reason. It’s hilariously clever, it has complex and relatable characters, and it’s part of such a colorful world full of mystery and supernatural creatures. It likes to take your expectations of the supernatural, and even of people, and turn them around, making them feel much more real.

And having these characters be members of the Bat family is so fitting. Wendy would absolutely rock it as Batgirl, and Dipper as Robin is awesome and kind of adorable. I don’t know if I would peg Stan as the Batman type (though he is pretty grumpy), but I think it would work. He certainly does have his own brand of justice, even if it is a little skewed.

17 They’re The Ultimate Superhero Couple

Via: lizziefig.deviantart.com, rebeccasorge.deviantart.com

The dynamic between Hiccup and Astrid was always so fun to watch, and that didn’t change when they went from kind of friends to friends to eventually lovers. Their personalities blended so well with each other that you could see why they made a great couple.

Hiccup is perfect as Iron Man.

Hiccup is perfect as Iron Man since the kid is always coming up with new gadgets and inventions. And I could see Astrid totally dominating as Black Widow. Their personalities even fit the superheroes’ too. Astrid has a bit of a no-nonsense outlook on life and she can be pretty scary when she’s mad, but she is also kind. Hiccup is endlessly sarcastic, but put a problem before him, and he won’t rest until he’s figured out some sort of solution. I would watch this crossover.

16 Just Grab Some (Super) Ducktales!

Via: instagram.com (lindsziart)

Who would’ve thought that a show would get you to love a character that was basically a duck version of Ebenezer Scrooge? But that’s basically what Ducktales did. The young kids probably helped, since Scrooge is such a softie when it comes to them.

I love the designs of the Ducktales characters as the Avengers. Scrooge is a good fit for Fury, and I love the idea of Launchpad being the Hulk. It’s just a really funny image to see this endlessly chill guy get angry enough to turn into a raging green monster. Webby as Black Widow is a bit odd since the two are so different, but Webby has proved herself capable, so I could see it happening. And I love Huey’s Ironman design. It’s both awesome and adorable.

15 This Would Be A Pretty Cool Crossover

Via stevenraybrown.deviantart.com, rowsdowr.com

Dexter’s Laboratory actually already has its own group of superheroes, though they’re a pretty obvious parody of the superheroes we know and love. There have even been a few episodes starring them (the Japan, and the Puppet Pal episodes were a couple of personal favorite of mine). So, to put Dexter’s Laboratory in a superhero setting like the Avengers isn’t far out there.

To put Dexter’s Laboratory in a superhero setting like the Avengers isn’t far out there.

I do like the artist taking the Justice Friends and putting an Avengers twist on them. It’s still the Justice Friends, but you can see the Avengers influence. I also like the other artist’s reimagining Dexter and Dee Dee and the Joker and Harley Quinn. I know they’re technically supervillains, but it’s still pretty cool. Wait, does that mean Joker Dexter would be dating Harley Quinn Dee Dee? Ugh, never mind, things just got weird.

14 Not Sure Any Of These People Should Be Superheroes

Via: amydrewthat.deviantart.com

I’ll be honest, I’m not a fan of Family Guy, but it is a really popular grown-up cartoon. I think a lot of people like it for its blunt, crude humor, and to each their own. I’ll admit, the show did have some pretty interesting, if weird, characters. (I mean there was a talking dog, and nobody thought that was weird? Also, could anybody actually understand Stewie besides Brian?)

So how would these people be like as superheroes? To be honest, I don’t think any of them would make good superheroes, though Stewie as Deadpool is oddly fitting. I do like the idea of Lois being She-Hulk, since she does have that kind of personality; you really don’t want to make this woman angry. It would be a very interesting crossover, and it would probably end in fire.

13 Gotta Catch All Those Superheroes

via: aminoapps.com, reddit.com

Considering all the crazy powers the different Pokémon have, it’s kind of surprising someone in this universe hasn’t tried to become a superhero. (or maybe they have, I don’t know.) I feel like people are missing out on a very good opportunity. I mean the show even had some supervillains!

Bulbasaur as the Hulk is hilarious and crazy.

Anyway, I absolutely adore Pikachu as Thor. It’s so fitting in many ways, and not just because the two have lightning powers (but mostly that.) I also liked Charmander as Iron Man. I wouldn’t have chosen that, but I think it works pretty well. And Bulbasaur as the Hulk is hilarious and crazy. Pretty much all of these Pokémon look fantastic and I would love to see them as superheroes. Maybe one day it’ll happen. We can only hope.

12 Super Heroes In A Half Shell

Via: ashleywharfe.deviantart.com

If we want to get technical, our favorite mutant ninja brothers are actually superheroes already. Well, at the very least, they’re vigilantes. They have pretty impressive ninja skills, which they use to protect New York from various threats, whether they be mad scientists or a straight up demon. These guys are already heroes in so many ways.

But what would they look like as other superheroes? I do like that this artist made them look like the Bat family since I think TMNT and Batman are pretty similar. (There was actually a crossover between these two and it was absolutely fantastic.) Though I have to admit, Leo’s bright blue cowl looks a little weird. I do like that they made Casey Jones the Red Hood. It suits him pretty well.

11 It’s Miraculous Star!

Via: deaf-machbot.deviantart.com

Star and Marco are a pretty great duo in both fighting and just everyday scenarios. Star’s almost manic energy blends pretty well with Marco’s more cautious nature. I also like the fact that while Marco was initially surprised by Star’s origins, he just kind of rolled with it.

Marco pulls off black leather surprisingly well.

And I love these two as Ladybug and Cat Noir. Yes, I’m counting these characters as superheroes, because they totally are. Star is so cute as the Ladybug, and Marco pulls off black leather surprisingly well. And now I really want to see these two interacting with our favorite ladybug and cat. That would be a pretty awesome, if completely insane crossover. Let’s just hope their villains never meet. Can you imagine the chaos?

10 I’m Surprised Disney Hasn’t Done This

Via: verybadfrog.com, batmania.misentropy.com

Mickey Mouse has become an icon for Disney. Even if you somehow live under a rock and don’t know much about Disney, you likely know about Mickey Mouse. As a character, Micky Mouse is pretty likable. He’s kind, he’s silly, and he isn’t afraid to do what’s right. That sounds like some good superhero qualities.

I’ll admit that Spiderman fits Mickey much more than Batman. I’m sorry, I just can’t see Mickey getting all dark and broody like Batman does. (Though if I were a criminal, hearing Mickey’s laugh come out of a dark figure like Batman would be pretty terrifying.) But I could see Mickey being a superhero. He does have a pretty good sense of justice, and he’s always willing to help out those who need it. Give him some superpowers and he’d be fighting evil for us in a heartbeat.

9 I Think The Galaxy Is Doomed

Via: dabigragu9971.tumblr.com

I was kind of surprised to find I liked Bob’s Burgers as much as I did. Yes, the show is pretty weird with even weirder characters, but they all work. Their craziness is entertaining, and the scenarios they find themselves in are both insane and hilarious. (I also like the fact that even Bob, the somewhat normal character, is still pretty weird.)

Bob as an enraged tree is surprisingly fitting.

I love this artist’s interpretation because it has the Belcher family as the Guardians of the Galaxy and it’s awesome. Bob as an enraged tree is surprisingly fitting, and Louise as his violent, borderline psychopathic companion is very fitting. It’s a fun take on these characters and I love the setting. Though if these guys were the Guardians of the Galaxy, I’m pretty sure we’d all be doomed within a week.

8 Just Don’t Make This Guy Mad

Via: dsolou.deviantart.com, pinterest.com (Disney and DreamWorks)

Considering Donald Duck’s more volatile temper and . . . violent tendencies, it’s not a big surprise that many fans have reimagined him as some of your more violent superheroes. While Donald may not be quite as compassionate as Mickey, he still does have a strong sense of justice. He’s also just got a pretty crazy temper to go with it.

I do like the design of Donald as Deadpool. And Donald as Wolverine is a little strange, but it’s pretty interesting image. Just imagine if Donald could shoot claws out of his hands, er, feathers (not sure how that would actually work, but that’s cartoon logic for you). I think Donald would make a great superhero, but he definitely would be one of the more crazy ones.

7 In Brightest Day, In Blackest Night

Via: knowyourmeme.com (Coffeebending)

The characters from Adventure Time are all pretty unique, showing off their quirky personalities in all their glory. What’s pretty cool about them is that many of the characters, especially the main ones, show to be pretty complex and layered. They’re not just funny, but relatable and sympathetic.

Finn would be amazing as the Green Lantern.

I like that this artist reimagined several of the characters as members of the different Lantern Corps. Finn would be amazing as the Green Lantern; he’s already got a great sense of imagination and a really good heart, so using the ring would be no problem for him. I also like the designs of each character. You can tell they’re all Lanterns, but they still have their individual designs. I think the Lantern Corps would get a lot more interesting with these guys around.

6 He Will Take You Out (After He Eats His Spinach)

Via: pinterest.com (Schiani Ledo), comicartfans.com (Charley Bliss)

You could say Popeye was kind of a superhero. After all, he did gain a freakish amount of strength when he ate spinach. And he was always saving his girl from various enemies. Those are all pretty basic superhero stuff. (Though I don’t know how the spinach thing ties in. Is that his ring of power?)

But I also like these artist’s interpretations of Popeye as a superhero (and yes, I’m counting Hellboy as a superhero.) Popeye as Batman is strangely fitting, though I’m not sure why. I could just see this grumpy guy going out on rooftops and scaring criminals if it meant he got them to stop their shenanigans. And I love his design as Hellboy. He’s one of my favorite lesser-known superheroes, so it’s nice to see him get some love from fans.
