Just in case you were worried, Cyberpunk 2077 is definitely coming to current-gen consoles.

Xbox One and PlayStation 4 owners shouldn’t fear for their chances to play CD Projekt Red’s upcoming sci-fi masterpiece, Cyberpunk 2077. According to a recent interview with Game Informer, the game will be coming to the current generation of consoles.

We had a bit of a scare when we finally got our first look at Cyberpunk 2077’s gameplay. Everything was way prettier than we’ve come to expect from either an Xbox or PlayStation, so there was some concern that it was being developed for the next generation of consoles. Luckily, it seems those fears are unfounded.

"I've heard a number of people say that," said Patrick Mills, quest designer for Cyberpunk 2077. "The current console generation is what we're aiming for. We are aiming for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and of course PC as well."

This is the first E3 that showed real gameplay footage since CD Projekt Red unveiled their first trailer way back in 2012. They even showed off a game demo at their booth that lucky game journos could play for about 40 minutes. What we know so far makes the game out to be a first-person action RPG along the same lines as cyberpunk classic Deus Ex.

But while the game will look at feel like Deus Ex, it’ll have distinct loot-’em-up elements a la Borderlands or Destiny, with damage numbers popping off targets and color-coded loot pickups. We also know there’s going to be an incredibly complex relationship system that will allow you to sleep with almost anyone, regardless of either your gender or theirs.

With the incredible visuals presented in the trailer, we wouldn’t be surprised to find that Cyberpunk 2077 is also being developed for next-generation consoles in conjunction with some incredibly beefy PC specs. PC owners might want to consider an upgrade just for this game.

Thankfully they still have plenty of time to save some green for a new rig. There’s no release date for Cyberpunk 2077, which even the most conservative estimates putting it out sometime next year.
