On a whole, this fourth and final season of the Castlevania anime wrapped up a lot of stories that began all the way back in 2017. However, that doesn’t mean these answers all made sense. Whether they knew they were going to have four seasons or not, there are details that seem like the developers wanted to go more in-depth, if only they had more time.

As a result, what remains are some illogical choices for characters that make the finale feel rushed which can leave fans with an empty sensation. Let’s go through what didn’t make a lot of sense this season.

Consider this your spoiler warning!

10 Alucard’s Sudden Change Of Heart Is Too Fast

Alucard from the Castlevania Anime

At the end of season three of the anime, it seemed like they were setting Alucard up to be a villain. One would have presumed he would have changed at some point this season but that plot point is completely thrown away.

He sees one note and all of sudden forgets his distrust of humans. To his credit Alucard does have an “oh no I’m becoming Trevor” moment but it all happens so fast.

9 Hector’s Planning Should Have Been Spotted

Does no one really see these orbs in the castle Hector was planting? For that matter, after what Lenore did at the end of season three of the anime, practically enslaving him, why would they not watch his work closer?

It seems that Lenore does watch him more often than not but Hector also has a lot of freedom which is how he succeeds. More time given to his schemes would have been appreciated.

8 Why Was It So Easy To Remove The Ring?

As it was previously mentioned, Lenore sort of honeypots Hector. By seducing him she is able to slip a control ring on his finger that makes it so created creatures will not obey him. Then toward the middle of this anime season, he just cuts his ring finger off.

It was really that easy? Why didn’t he do that sooner? Surely magic could have saved the finger prior to Isaac showing up.

7 Zamfir’s Tracking Stone Is Obvious

Zamfir from the Castlevania Anime

At the end of episode five of the anime, a gargoyle-looking demon attaches something onto Zamfir. It is revealed that this is a tracking stone in episode seven.

It’s not a huge tracker but it’s big enough and has been placed where someone should see it on Zamfir. She should even feel it scratching her neck as it is a big metal hook but no one notices somehow.

6 Why Put Vampires In Canvas Tents?

Throughout many mediums, there are a lot of weaknesses to vampires that change. One of the most common that rarely changes is their weakness to sunlight.

Knowing that, why then do Striga, Morana, and their vampire soldiers sleep in canvas tents? One tear could have obliterated them easily, as was shown in the anime.

5 Why Didn't Alucard Use The Window?

Alucard from the Castlevania Anime

Saint Germain creates what seems like a front-facing shield in Castle Dracula so that Alucard can’t stop him. However, multiple times in the frame they show two windows. One where Alucard is and one past the barrier on Saint Germain’s side.

Alucard uses a magic flying sword so couldn’t he have snuck in an attack through the window? Maybe the barrier did stretch further but Varney does warp from behind so this seems unlikely.

4 Saint Germain’s Trust In The Alchemist Makes No Sense

Death confronting St Germain from the Castlevania Anime

Why does Saint Germain trust The Alchemist in the Infinite Corridor? The easy answer is because he wants to see his girlfriend or whoever this woman is. However, he knows the dangers of Dracula which are pointed out in season three of the anime.

If someone promises to reveal someone’s location in exchange for bringing complete chaos back into the world, don’t trust that person.

3 The Convenient Portal Trope Is Dull

Alucard, Sypha, and Trevor from the Castlevania Anime

Convenience is a plot point that happens all the time in anime. Usually, it involves a character about to die only to get rescued at the last minute. One could play a drinking game based on that principle alone in Naruto and die within minutes.

Sypha and Trevor clearly had to join the fight somehow but it felt too convenient for them to find a portal, even though portals had been established in the anime’s lore before. It’s a small gripe on the genre if anything.

2 Saint Germain Makes Very Bad Decisions

St Germain from the Castlevania Anime

Saint Germain screws up the first time by listening to The Alchemist. Then, after Death reveals himself, he still goes through with the ritual.

At this point, knowing he has been manipulated, it should click in his head that he’s never going to see his girl again so he might as well die. Instead, he summons Dracula and Lisa and then, out of nowhere, decides to help Trevor too. Saint Germain’s arc in this anime season, let alone series, is an odd one.

1 Death’s Powers Are Contradictory

Trevor using the god slayer from the Castlevania Anime

When Death does reveal himself to Saint Germain, he says he can’t bring anyone out of Hell. It’s all because of his hands. Why then can he change into people and manipulate them that way, with hands?

On top of that, he has control of the Infinite Corridor. So why then can’t he reach into Hell? It’s a major plot point that is rushed past very quickly as is what Death is. He needed more time to breathe in the anime.
