Is your cat feeling left out by all the cool video games you've been playing during quarantine? Of course it is. But don't worry, Mew and Me is here to satisfy all your gamer cat's needs.

Mew and Me is an app available for both Android and iOS smartphones and tablets, wherein your cat can play a variety of games specifically designed for cats. The app has been around for a while now already, and to be honest we all should be ashamed that we haven't known about it until now. How on earth have your cats been entertaining themselves this whole time?

The app was conceptualized and created by a small team of cat lovers headed by game designer and Mew and Me CEO Willem Delventhal. The whole thing started as an idea by Delventhal born out of the extreme guilt he felt around leaving his beloved cat Fez alone all day whilst he was out doing pointless things like "earning a living" or whatever.

So the idea of Mew and Me was settled upon: a series of games that automatically cycle throughout the day on a tablet (or smartphone, but you'll probably be needing that while you're out and about) that your cats can play at their leisure. The games include super cat-fun things like swatting bugs and smacking a mouse that moves around the screen, which accumulate scores based on the number of successful tiny lil paw taps made on the moving thingies.

One of the best parts of the app is that it records and gives you access to cool Cat Data about your fur babies:

[These are] the first games that track your pet’s usage to show you what they have been up to. Mew and Me believes both in improving the quality of life for your animal, and giving you a window into their day that you wouldn’t have had before.

So the along with creating some fun pastimes for your lonely house cats, Mew and Me is all about creating novel ways of better understanding them, and therefore of feeling more connected to them during the times when you're apart.

Okay yes, we haven't forgotten that we're all very much at home right now and that the amount of time we've gotten to spend with our cats has spiked exponentially (to the extent that they probably want to be rid of us now). But that changes nothing! Now you can sit lovingly by and watch in person as your cat children swat them bugs like the unstoppable killer hunting machines they are.

Go try it out right now - it's free on both Google Play and the App Store!
