Which will you choose: Nomad, Street Kid, or Corpo?
Come this November, it won't be the PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X racking gamers' minds, it will be the trio of lifepaths that start out the player's Cyberpunk 2077 experience. A recent poll recorded by the official Cyberpunk Twitter proves just how close these three selections are, with Street Kid coming out victorious by only a very slight margin. Still, the question remains: what will your background be in the dark future?
Likened to major gaming decisions of old, such as a player's Pokémon main starter or their favorite Grand Theft Auto V character, the lifepath choices in Cyberpunk 2077 are simply all too good to pass up. But, unfortunately, players can only pick one and, with the debut date clock ticking down to double digits in days remaining (94 as of writing), there isn't much time left to solidify that decision.
There are, however, a plethora of details on the net to help gamers choose which one they may best closely align with. Yet, even with all these subtle hints, there is no denying just how tricky this first decision will be, given the number of various alterations it will have on the player's overall experience. Remember, while the parallels are there, this isn't GTA by any means. At its heart, Cyberpunk 2077 will work as an RPG, which means going gung-ho into every situation probably isn't ideal.
Despite this, it seems even deciding upon preferred Cyberpunk firepower is just as indecisive a decision as initial lifepaths.
Going beyond the simple renders of what these lifepaths appear like stylistically and aesthetically, one avid Reddit user boiled it down to a simple jumping-off point that rings loud with rumination and conviction:
"Nomad: Turn Back... before you enter night city, nothing good is there. Nomads value honor and family. Things night city has in very short supply.
Street Kid: No Future - you grew up in poverty and have only the faintest hope of moving from your caste. Enjoy day to day hedonism hoping you can make the best out of the life you have while surviving another day.
Corpo: Trust No One - you’re neck deep in the corporate world, and you gotta realize everyone here is looking out for their bottom line. To them, you’re either an asset or a liability, never an ally."
Even with this slight assistance, each lifepath still remains as inescapable purviews into worlds of unimaginable scope and depth. It's only more proof that Cyberpunk 2077, even at its very outset, will have players losing their minds in the decision of a lifetime. Just imagine what the remainder of the game will feel like; every decision, every kill, every item acquired will be one of a thousand variables that will not only change the future path of that player's game but will have a very different effect depending on the lifepath first chosen.
So, which will you choose come November 19th?
