The Reward Board is split between all the locations in the game, with more becoming available to you as you progress the story and discover new areas. Some challenges task you with defeating a unique monster in the area or killing a specific enemy with poison, to name a few.

Chained Echoes Reward Board Explained

The Rewards Board tasks you with completing specific objectives in each area you visit in Chained Echoes. To begin with, you have access to Farnsport and the Rohlan Fields, and more will unlock the first time you step into a new location. In the Reward Board menu, you can view all your current challenges for an area and see the ones you've completed.

The rewards vary, ranging from money, SP, and upgrade materials. The tasks you're charged with completing, most of which will require you to return to an area with your Sky Armour to complete fully later in the story, want you to defeat unique monsters, clear side quests, defeat monsters in a designated place, find treasure chests, and so on. When you've cleared one of the challenges on the board, you'll be notified that you can claim the reward. It's important to note that anything you clear on the Reward Board has to be claimed, or the goodies you get for completing one tile will sit there until you remember to go into the menu.

Most of the rewards you get aren't much to write home about, but they will give you a helpful resource boost.

The most crucial reward you get from the board is by chaining tiles together.

How And Why To Chain Rewards On The Reward Board

On the Reward Board page, you can find an option to view your Chain Rewards. In this menu, you'll see that specific rewards will be unlocked when you chain together tiles on the Reward Board. Simply fulfilling individual tiles on the board won't count as 'chains' unless the objective adjacent to it is also fulfilled.

Chain Rewards will yield to you Sacred Water, an item used to interact with Class Statues to unlock new classes, and Grimoire Shards. These shards act as your levels in Chained Echoes, spending them to unlock new abilities or increase your stats. The only other way to obtain Grimoire Shards is to defeat bosses, optional and main story ones.

To claim a Chain Reward, you must connect eight adjacent tiles on the Reward Board. To reach the next Chain reward, you need to complete another eight next to each other. Filling out the Chain Rewards on the board is how you get a Soul of Farnesse item, which is a special material you need for ultimate weapons in Chained Echoes.

Here are the rewards you get for hitting a specific number of chains:

  • Four - Sacred Water
  • Eight - Grimoire Shard
  • 16 - Sacred Water
  • 24 - Grimoire Shard
  • 32 - Sacred Water
  • 40 - Grimoire Shard
  • 48 - Sacred Water
  • 56 - Grimoire Shard
  • 64 - Grimoire Shard
  • 72 - Sacred Water
  • 80 - Grimoire Shard
  • 88 - Grimoire Shard
  • 96 - Rusy Knuckles
  • 104 - Grimoire Shard
  • 112 - Soul of Farnese
  • 120 - Monument

If you're looking for Sacred Water or a Grimoire Shard, this will be an easy way to claim one. You can manipulate the Reward Board to some extent, insofar as you can pick the easiest route to link up some tiles to get a higher chain going. For example, if you have some clusters of objectives completed on the right side of the board, you can look for the best way to link them up to the left side of the board.

The only way to chain a tile together is to complete them in a line.

When there is a completed tile, fulfilling the objective of the adjacent tiles will link them together.

Doing so will increase your chain and give you access to higher Chain Rewards if you hit the threshold. Filling out objectives such as finding 15/15 collectables or defeating six specific enemies are simple tasks you can fill out. Finding a path through your tiles is simple and you'll know when a tile is being counted as part of the chain since it will have a yellow background.
