Chaosium recently announced the Call of Cthulhu Miskatonic Repository Con scheduled for October 17 and 18, 2020. The two-day convention is being organized by Call of Cthulhu fans and players as a celebration of Chaosium’s Miskatonic Repository on DriveThruRPG.
Because the Con is being held online, it will be able to cater to the massive worldwide Call of Cthulhu community, and the Con will represent that by running around the clock during its two days. Along with the many games that will be run (no event schedule yet), gaming panels will also be held to teach us how to write and publish CoC content for the Repository. In fact, two of the featured panels are Writing for the Miskatonic Repository and Publishing on the Miskatonic Repository, hosted by Chaosium's Mike Mason and Michael O'Brien, Miskatonic Repository authors Jon Hook and Marek Golonka, and Golden Goblin Press's Oscar Rios.
Chaosium’s Call of Cthulhu Miskatonic Repository is the place to go to find a mountain of madness worth of CoC community-created content. The Repository went live in December 2017, and has since been stuffed with all manner of mysterious, diabolical, and sanity-erasing horrors. The upcoming Con will showcase many of those adventures, and new ones as well, and give game masters and players a focused chance to try them out, or replay their favorite ones again.
If you’d like to volunteer to help run games for the Con, submissions are open now and being accepted via a link on the announcement post. Don’t wait too long, though, as the submissions window closes on 27 September. If you want to sign up for a chance to pay in any of the games during the Con, those sign-ups are being accepted until the end of September, as well.
If you’d like to get a bit of a jump on getting your own CoC adventure ready to play at the Con, the Miskatonic Repository has the info needed to get you started. The Repository Content Guidelines detail the core elements for creating, formatting, and publishing your adventure. The Miskatonic Repository Additional Guidelines contain helpful support info concerning the Cthulhu Mythos, how to avoid clichés, dealing with bigotry, racism, and sexism in the creation and playing of your adventure, and tips on setting the right tone and finding the right art for your adventure.
