Charlie Day has spoken about the Super Mario Bros. movie for the first time, calling the script "top secret" and joking that Mario would be more in the know.

The cast of the Mario movie was announced during Nintendo's last Direct showcase, sending the internet into a flurry as celebrity after celebrity was revealed to be voicing our childhood heroes. Although we've heard a bit from Chris Pratt, we haven't heard from anyone else in the main cast until now.

As reported by Nintendo Life, Charlie Day, of It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia fame, who is playing Luigi in the upcoming Illumination film, appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live, where he was asked by Kimmel about what the recording process has been like so far. The whole exchange is very lighthearted and jokey, but it does reveal some interesting details about the state of the film.

In response, Day said, "I'm playing Luigi. In fact, I was just recording that this morning and I'd love to tell you about it but they are top secret with this stuff... this is serious stuff... I know nothing, I show up and they're like, 'you say this and you say that' and it's all very funny and good. Then I walk out and there are two guys in overalls with hammers who are like 'don't you tell nobody nothing about this Charlie'."

When pushed about not knowing anything about the film by Kimmel, Day also said, "You know, Mario's probably in the know but they don't tell Luigi anything". Day also revealed that recording is done separately, with Pratt not voicing his lines alongside Day, "We do not. We go in one at a time. They just don't trust me around Pratt, I don't know."

Day continued to joke about the secrecy of the movie, saying "I don't even know if I'm in the movie". Although it's clear that he's joking and can't say much about his role in the movie, it's interesting to see how closely Nintendo is keeping an eye on the movie and that recording has been done separately.
