Polish developer The Farm 51 has just launched Chernobylite for PS4 and Xbox One consoles, at the same time announcing that the next-gen Enhanced Edition will be arriving in Q1 2022. Best of all, the team announced that both PS5 and Xbox Series X|S upgrades will be available at no extra cost.

Chernobylite is finally available on console, and the developer decided to share some exciting updates planned for the project. The next-gen version of the game was originally slated for late 2021, yet it has (unsurprisingly) been postponed. However, all next-gen upgrades will be completely free when available in 2022 if you own Chernobylite on last-gen devices. Of course, you can already run the game on your shiny new PS5 or Xbox Series X|S via backward compatibility.

To celebrate the game’s long-awaited console launch, the studio released a brand-new trailer for Chernobylite, highlighting its strange atmosphere, full of mystery...and love. Check the video below:

As the studio noted, Chernobylite’s arrival on the console isn’t the end of the story just yet. Much more content is scheduled over the next 14 months in the form of six DLCs, expanding the project significantly. Some of the additions will be paid, whereas some will be free. Each DLC will introduce a mix of new missions, game modes, weapons, and much more.

The first pack, Monster Hunt, containing new monsters and side missions, will arrive this Halloween and will be free to all players. It will be followed by a Ghost Town update this Christmas, featuring a new Pripyat Residential map and some new paid content as well. Here’s a full post-release content roadmap:
