Fortnite's new shield variant, Chug Splash will let you heal your teammates as well as yourself in one fell swoop.
When it comes to Fortnite, there is no worse way to start a match than to be forced out into the world with an empty shield. Chances are, at the very least, you'll find yourself some Small Shield Potions. However, on occasion, there will be times when you get nothing at all. One well-placed sniper shot and your round will be over, just like that.
What is perhaps even worse is when you are stocked up on shields and you don't get the chance to use them. Let's say you have just won a vicious battle with a rival and you're replenishing your health and shield before hunting down someone else. Those few seconds when you're cracking open a Shield Potion or a Chug Jug and drinking it down can feel like an eternity if the battle is raging on around you.
Fortnite's v9.30 update has brought with it a shield variant that doesn't require its user to become a sitting duck while they consume it. All you need to do with the Chug Splash is throw it in front of you. It will grant you +20 shield, or +20 health if it isn't already maxed out. What's more, if you're playing Squads or Duos, any of the teammates caught in the cloud the item emits will be granted the same.
Aside from healing you and your teammates, the obvious upside of the Chug Splash is how quickly it takes effect. It makes it perfect for using mid-battle if you need just a little bit more health to come out on top. However, be careful where you throw it. Should an enemy get caught up in the cloud, they will benefit from it as well, making your efforts pretty much pointless.
It should also be noted that the Chug Splash will also work on teammates (and enemies) who have been knocked. It's the perfect chance to give yourself that little bit of extra time you might need before you can revive them. The item has a rare classification, comes in stacks of two, and players can carry as many as six at a time.
