Developer Supercell has released its largest update for Clash of Clans all year, bringing several exciting additions including the newest Town Hall upgrade, new troops, and a new champion that excels at attacking from a distance.

Town Hall 13 And The Giga Inferno

The Town Hall 13 upgrade looks fantastic and is built with the newest innovations in Dark Elixir technology. As seen in the preview video above, the new defensive structure for Town Hall 13 is the Giga Inferno that will target attackers once within its range.

The Giga Inferno has five levels to upgrade, and from level three onward it greatly helps in defending a base, even when the situation looks dire. If the Town Hall 13 reaches zero hit points, the Giga Inferno will be destroyed, but not before making one more area of effect attack that damages and slows all enemies caught in its range, and this slow cannot be mitigated through the use of any items.

Three New Troops To Deploy

The best part of the update video above was when the new Siege Barrack, in its massive size, gracefully parachuted onto the battlefield. These come with units already inside to attack and a player does not need to worry about ordering units to attack, at least at first. Once the Siege Barrack is destroyed, any pre-loaded troops will immediately exit and move in to join the attack.

Scattershot looks like a catapult that fires a projectile that, as the name implies, scatters in what looks like a frontal cone area of effect that can hit both land and air units. Given how large its area of attack seems to be, this might be a game change with regards to how defenses are formed and how players attempt to succeed in their raids.

The Yeti is the final new addition of troops and looks to be the most interesting so far. These massive creatures hit quite hard when targeting a single unit, but also carry on their backs a basket of Yetimites. When the Yeti is damaged, these Yetimites will leap onto the battlefield to join the fight and are able to jump over walls with ease.

The Royal Champion

The newest Hero also arrives after unlocking Town Hall 13 and is the Royal Champion. The fourth Hero can leap over walls and throw her spear, while her Seeking Shield will hit the nearest four defenses at any range. In a quality of life improvement, all Heroes will now appear to be much smarter, acting in ways that favor self-preservation over mindless death. Heroes will attempt to save themselves and sue Abilities if they take damage that would otherwise kill them. This can be disabled in More Settings, but it is a great addition for most players.

In addition, players can click here to read the rest of the patch notes, since there are a significant number of changes to existing units, all of which mainly correspond to the newest increase in Town Hall power.
