Have you ever played Skyrim and thought there was just too much to do? Or have you been pondering the world of Tamriel and thought Covid restrictions should be better enforced in the region? If you somehow answered yes to these questions, then you're in luck, because a brand-new mod for Skyrim aims to accomplish just that.

The “Closed Cities Skyrim” mod achieves one simple goal: closing the five major cities off from the Tamriel world space. Now, players will find a massive wall where city gates once stood, effectively shutting them off from the citizen inside. “Closed Cities Skyrim is a comprehensive project that aims to bring back at least part of the feel of the current real-world", the mod's description reads. "Run towards the gates and look on in horror at the wall in your way while you wish you could’ve sought safety within the walls.”

Of course, this mod is just a bit of a humorous take on the very real issue of Covid and lockdown. The slogan “Stay safe, self isolate, and practice social distancing” accompanies the mod which claims that the cities of Skyrim are “on lockdown with Covid4E201, the recent plague unleashed upon Tamriel by Peryite.”

Not only is this the perfect way to bring Covid procedures into Skyrim, but it's also a great way to play the game if you are tired of actually playing the game itself. Blocking off the cities eliminates almost all of the game’s missions and quests, leaving you to explore nature all by yourself. No more talking to city guards or buying wares from merchants. Instead, it's just you, your horse, and the occasional dragon. It's the perfect way for introverts to enjoy the perks of playing an RPG without all the interaction.

This mod is a great example of how people can still find humor in such serious circumstances. Hopefully, the next mod will finally enforce those dragon skin face masks.

For those of you looking to shake up your Skyrim experience, this isn't the only mod that players have incorporated to bring some "realness" to the game. A recent sleeping mod makes NPCs react more realistically when woken up in the middle of the night. Soon it will be hard to tell what is real and what is Skyrim.
