New files discovered in Fortnite's latest patch suggest that the Thanos Limited Time Mode may be about to return to the game.
One of the most fun things about Fortnite, and what never ceases to fail to keep the game interesting, is the constant addition of various Limited Time Modes. The chance for players to take a break from Solo, Duos, and Squads and try their hand at something else. Whether it be Disco Domination or the current Team Rumble mode where players form teams of 20 and respawn after they die.
Of all the LTMs that have been featured on Fortnite Island so far, one of the most popular centered around Marvel's Infinity Gauntlet. Players could plummet down to the island and attempt to be the first to find the extremely powerful weapon. If they were lucky enough to do so, not only would they be able to harness its power, but they'd also morph into Thanos.
As with all LTMs on Fortnite, wielding the Infinity Gauntlet is now nothing more than a distant memory. However, files discovered within Fortnite's latest patch suggest that the Marvel supervillain might be about to make a return. According to Fortnite Intel, the discovered files have the prefix Jim_ and are in a file named Carmine. Those were apparently the labels used for the Thanos LTM earlier this year.
Heres a new sound file called "Carmine_Disapear_01"— Lucas7yoshi_ // Fortnite News & Leaks (@lucas7yoshi_) December 11, 2018

That's not the only evidence pointing towards a Thanos return that dataminers have uncovered either, as you can see and hear for yourself above. The clip from Twitter features a sound that was also discovered in Fortnite's latest patch. The more astute Fortnite players among you will recognize it as the noise made when someone attains the Infinity Gauntlet.
As always with anything uncovered from Fortnite's code, it could all sadly mean nothing. We don't know about you, but all of the above seems a little coincidental if you ask us. The only thing troubling us is why Marvel would want to bring Thanos back to Fortnite Island right now. Yes, the Avengers Endgame trailer debuted last week, but the movie isn't out for another four months. We'd have thought bringing him back to coincide with the movie's release would have made more sense.
