Today was a big day in the world of Call of Duty. The "bunker hunt" that players have been on since Friday has come to an end. A teaser trailer for a new game called Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War was released. Also Captain Price is involved, somehow. However, the last thing we expected to see was a giant ICBM on the Verdansk map.

When players got the daily bunker code from pawntakespawn.com, they were greeted with a bunker that looked familiar at first, but off to the side, we got images of a nuclear missile and a command center. This, of course, fueled speculation that the missile could either be launched or that it would eventually destroy the map and lead to a new area of Warzone.

Call of Duty: Warzone has around 6 million active players, so it makes sense for the developers to tease the game via the free to play battle royale arena. Redditor u/Uli909 shared the find on r/CODWarzone and quickly got over 4,000 upvotes for the short video.

In the comments to the post, people speculate that the map will be blown up by the nuke and Warzone will move to somewhere else, keeping the story moving along. Others consider it to be merely a prop for the promotion of Black Ops. So far, there is nothing to confirm what will happen one way or the other, so all of this is merely speculation.

Treyarch and Activision have confirmed, however, that Black Ops players will have access to the Warzone game as a free-to-play option. How much the two stories will bleed into each other is anyone's guess at this point, but based on the last two bunkers in the alternate reality game for Black Ops, the connection may be significant. Until the worldwide reveal trailer is released on August 26, we are going to have to continue to speculate—and also study up on our history.
