Call of Duty: Warzone has just removed the fan-favourite Verdansk Solos mode, and yes, the people are outraged. Or at least a little bit miffed. But it’s okay Call of Duty fans, because there’s a new battle royale mode to play solo, although it’s a little bit different. The Gulag, everyone’s favourite prison, has been removed, and in a nod to global capitalism during a pandemic, you will not meet your death as long as you have enough money on your person at any one time.

That’s right, COD: Warzone has brought back Buy Back Solos on the Verdansk map, meaning that you won’t be visiting the Gulag, but you will be trying to save up money before you just outright die. The wealthiest shall survive in this mode, and as long as you’re careful to save up enough scratch you will not die easily. Just read on below for everything you need to know about the new Buy Back Solos mode.

Oh, and while you’re here, make sure to double-check our breakdown of the latest Warzone patch. You might want to change out a couple of your loadouts, especially if you’ve been using the DMR 14.

How COD: Warzone Buy Back Solos Works

Buy Back Solos is, for the most part, similar to other solo BR modes in the game, but there are a few key differences. The first is that you start the match with $4,500 to be spent, which you can either hold on to or head straight for a Buy Station to buy loadouts and other items.

But what you should do is treat that $4,500 budget as a minimum - unless you’re a bit of a daredevil. In this mode there is no Gulag, meaning if you get shot while not suspecting it, you will be down for the count, and out of the game, if you do not have the money.

In the first 20 minutes of the game, that $4,500 budget will automatically buy you back and drop you into the map - a lot like buying back friends in the main multiplayer lobbies, except there are no friends to wait for in this solo playlist. You will see the 20-minute timer on screen, and as long as you have the money you will continually be respawned into the game during this time limit. This allows you to explore and get some decent loot before things really kick-off.

Once the timer depletes all bets are off, and it’s time to start fighting. If you see the timer run down and you’re still running around with a wallet full of cash, head for the Buy Station and invest as much as you can in self-revives, loadouts, and more. Anything that will help you to continue the mission and defeat other players.

It also means that if you see players running around and the 20 minutes has already elapsed, you can feel confident that taking them out means they will not return, and you can be a bit more aggressive. Good luck on the battlefield, soldier.
