Those looking to try out Code Vein before its official release on September 27th can do so thanks to a short demo being offered by Bandai Namco that is currently available for download on the Xbox One and PS4.

Bandai Namco has become one of the most iconic names in the video game industry, producing worldwide successes like Soulcalibur, Ace Combat, Pac-Man, and the Tales series of games. It was through this continued success that it was able to eventually purchase licenses for iconic manga and anime series like Dragon Ball, Naruto, and One Piece, once again distancing itself from other publishers within the industry. It's thanks in large part to the company’s willingness to branch out that it was able to come up with Code Vein, an action JRPG set in a post-apocalyptic world complete with sprawling landscapes and dynamic combat. As anticipation for the game's pending release continues to rise, consumers the world over who pre-ordered will be able to try it out before its official release on PS4 and Xbox One starting now via a playable demo.

While the announcement of the demo is a bit sudden, it's a good sign that Bandai Namco feels the game is free of any major flaws that would prevent it from being enjoyed by the masses. If the game sells well as a result, we could see a return to the days where free-to-play demos were the rule, rather than the exception.

News of the demo comes from an announcement trailer on Bandai Namco's official YouTube channel where the description reminds us that pre-orders on all platforms are currently available. Within the announcement trailer, we get a glimpse at various landscapes and a close up of not just the characters, but the various enemies you will face as well. The trailer does a good job of showcasing the various character customization options and the level of detail and lighting that was placed into each environment. The demo itself will allow players to customize their vampire and explore a demo exclusive version of the Depths dungeon. Code Vein will be available on the PS4, Xbox One, and PC starting on September 27th.

It's always nice to see a developer take the time to add in demo exclusive content as it gives consumers an ability to experience the game without ruining the actual story. In giving players the ability to customize and explore, Bandai Namco is taking the right steps to ensure that any major bugs that they may have missed get patched out before the game's official release.

With most game developers going to closed Alpha and Beta tests of games, it's certainly refreshing to see Code Vein become available to all players before it's release. Given the high cost of games these days, it would be nice if more developers allowed consumers to try out their games in a demo fashion that didn't require that they pre-order the game first.
