One of the things that attract gamers to Coffee Talk is it's eccentrically different characters who each have stories that can relate much to our own. From a couple's family disagreeing with the race of who their daughter chose to marry, to trying to hide from the spotlight you were put in from a young age, there's a story for everyone.

These characters bring laughter and tears to players and fellow NPCs alike. But, some are funnier and more moving than others. This is a list of all the best characters ranked from least to most great for their own reasons. Because this game isn't about the coffee... right?

Updated on January 7, 2023, by Gabrielle Huston: Coffee Talk is brought to life by its wonderful cast of characters. We've made sure that every one appears in this list!

11 Rachel: She Gets The Best Of Both Worlds

Ah, to be a child star who can transform into a cat and hide away from the press and public at will. Rachel is somewhat of a brat. Not entirely, but she's getting there. She's a teen star who just turned 18 and thinks she knows better than her father. We've all been there.

Rachel can be a bit frustrating at times when it comes to her career choices and attitude toward adults—moreso her father—but she lightens the mood in the cafe as soon as she was first introduced. Rachel keeps things fun!

10 Myrtle: The Quiet But Friendly

This one's for all the introverts out there. When players first meet Myrtle she is very quiet and distant, never joining in on anyone's conversations. This is well and good being as it's a public place to sit and enjoy coffee as you see fit... but someone changed that for her.

Aqua was the one to warm Myrtle up and get her talking. Once players see that someone who appears scary and intimidating is really just quiet and unsure, it's hard not to love them!

9 Baileys: The Boyfriend Willing To Risk It All

Baileys and Lua's relationship comes off as uncomfortable at first, as it is when watching any couple fight. But, at the end of the day, Baileys cares deeply for Lua and is willing to sacrifice everything for her.

He is an admirable Elf, unlike the stuck-up stereotype. Despite family troubles going both ways as well as society's view of things, Baileys will not falter under Lua.

8 Aqua: A Shy Dreamer

While the "uwu" gamer girl aesthetic can become over-played, players can't help but feel love for Aqua. She's an independent indie-game developer who has dreams and aspirations that she fears she may not reach. This is something many people can relate to!

Part of what makes this game so memorable is all the different types of people to run into, connect with, and find a part of yourself in. Aqua is part of a big population of people who need that extra push and encouragement to follow their dreams!

7 Gala: The Huggable Bear

Characters Hyde and Gala sitting on table, about to ask something to the barista.

Everyone likes a big, scary man who's really a soft sweetie at heart. Gala is a werewolf and a veteran who was struggling mentally and physically after the war. He was able to find a partner in crime to encourage him to look into his softer side and seek help. You'll become even better friends with him if you can learn to make his favorite, special drink.

Gala is one of the best characters because he's so down to earth and comforting to listen to and look at. He helps out at a hospital and has many cats he takes care of at home, despite being a strong and dangerous werewolf.

6 Lua: Misunderstood Lover

Lua's story may hit home for many players out there as her species is often misunderstood by society, and most especially by the species of her lover whom she plans to spend her life with.

Off the bat, the Barista understands that there's turmoil within their relationship, and it's hard not to empathize with Lua. She comes off as kind and quiet, and everyone can't help but feel the need to protect her!

5 Hyde

Coffee Talk - Hyde

As a Vampire who has lived much longer than many of the other characters you meet in Coffee Talk, Hyde is one of the most interesting to engage with. You meet him for the first time on the second day, and by the time he leaves you can't wait to see him again.

He's a close friend of Gala's, so that's how you get to know him at first. Over time, you learn more about his life, like his current work as a model and his ex-wife. Plus, of course, his tendency to try any drink.

4 Neil: Alien? God? Human?

Coffee Talk - Neil

Nothing could be more unexpected than someone, or something, in a spacesuit chattering away about reproducing with an earthling during a peaceful coffee-brewing experience with regular, everyday people...

Coffee Talk includes different fantasy-species and characters from across the globe and mind. Orcs, Elves, and the like. But, the curiosity doesn't end there. Neil might as well be an alien, given the way they talk about Earth's social constructs, reproducing, and using the pronouns "we" instead of "I" for themselves. They're definitely an exciting character that shows up just when you think it couldn't get more interesting.

3 Jorji: Everyone's Uncle

Though Jorji doesn't have an in-depth story and character development, and though he is wearing a cop's uniform, which most of the time insights anxiety in people, he's easily one of the warmest characters to stay around.

He wants nothing more than a sweet cup of coffee to take a load off on his breaks and chat with some young people who, as he would probably hate to admit, brighten his day with their antics.

2 Hendry: The Soft Old Man

Hendry is a loving papa that players can't help but feel sympathy for. Hendry is the father to Rachel who became overprotective of her career to the point of getting injuries in fights on her behalf.

Though everyone has gone through the phase of thinking that their parents are overbearing, when playing as the Barista, you can't help but love the soft old man.

1 Freya: Our Pixie Dream Girl

Freya is at the top of this list because she's what drove players to the game in the first place. Who kept them there for the long run. When everyone saw Coffee Talk on Steam waiting to be released, they could see nothing but brewing coffee and bright green hair.

She's almost like the manic-pixie-dream-girl trope with her style and throughout the game earns the title of being one of the Barista's closest, genuine friends. Freya is always there to lighten the mood.
