The game designer Mohammad Fahmi recently passed away from unknown causes. This comes directly from a family member, but several colleagues have also confirmed the news. Many were quick to offer their condolences.

“Today, we've received the most devastating of news,” Toge Productions announced. “Our beloved Fahmi, the writer of Coffee Talk and a beloved friend of Toge Productions, has passed away. We are absolutely devastated by his early departure.” Toge Productions went on to thank Fahmi for contributing to the company. “Thank you for everything you have done for Toge Productions, for the indie game industry, and for your friends and family. We will never forget you and you will always be in our hearts.”

Fahmi described themself as “an indie developer based in Jakarta, Indonesia” who has been “working in the games industry since 2011 and has covered a wide range of jobs including programming, game design, game journalism, marketing, PR, and narrative design.” Fahmi worked on several games including What Comes After, but the developer is mostly known for Coffee Talk. The game is a “coffee-brewing and heart-to-heart talking simulator about listening to fantasy inspired modern peoples’ problems and helping them by serving up a warm drink or two.” Coffee Talk was released to rave reviews on January 29, 2020.

The developer was working with Pikselnesia and Fellow Traveler on the upcoming Afterlove EP before passing away. “Today, we received the sad news that Fahmi, lead developer of Afterlove EP, has passed away,” Fellow Traveler announced. “Fahmi was a unique and inspiring voice and we feel blessed to have known him. We are devastated by this loss and will miss him dearly. Rest in peace, Fahmi. May your stories live forever.”

Fahmi will be missed by numerous friends and family members. “I cannot believe that Fahmi is gone,” a former colleague Ian Garner said. “He helped me when we were journalists together, we moved into games at a similar time, and he has been a constant source of support and inspiration. I cannot put into words how much I will miss him.”
