Conan poked fun at Sonic's redesign in a major way back in November. Turns out the show's take on the blue hedgehog actually has something in common with the movie's.

The Sonic the Hedgehog movie hits theaters today! No, we can't believe it either. It feels like just yesterday the world was collectively subjected to the movie's original design of the iconic blue blur. Posters and images had teased it, then the unveiling of the first trailer confirmed all our worst nightmares to be true.

While it's not normally great when people complain until they get what they want, in this instance something had to be done. It didn't take long for Paramount to react to the backlash and buckle. The movie was actually scheduled for release three months ago but was delayed in order for Sonic to be redesigned.

That meant the month in which the whole movie should have been released was instead used to unveil the new and improved Sonic. Since the world was watching, Conan decided to have a little fun with it. An alternate version of the redesigned Sonic was a guest on the show. He'd had his human teeth removed, like the movie version, but also featured a long human appendage on his bottom half as can be seen in the clip below.

Thankfully, movie Sonic isn't as endowed as Conan's Sonic. If he was, then we can't imagine many families would be going to see the movie this weekend. But thanks to leaks about what the movie will include published on Tumblr, we discovered something movie Sonic and Conan Sonic do have in common. Both of them love to floss. Yes, this 2020 movie is making a Fortnite reference.

The movie's car chase, part of which is shown in the trailer, is a successful one for Sonic, so he decides to celebrate by flossing at the end of it. We're hoping that's the only annoying/dated pop culture reference in the whole movie, but we fear that it will not be. Fingers crossed the only issue with the movie was a weird looking Sonic, and Sonic the Hedgehog defies all odds and is a great movie that might be the start of something special.
