Last year, late-night talk show host Conan O'Brien Tweeted out that he had visited Kojima Productions' headquarters in Tokyo, Japan. Stated to be working on a top-secret project with developer Hideo Kojima, maybe people assumed the man would end up a secret character in Death Stranding. Well, that hunch was correct. In a video last night, O'Brien finally revealed what he did at Kojima's studio and the results are pure magic.

Taking a tour of the mysterious studio, we get to see a look at Kojima's most prized possession: a coat rack! Also, Kojima apparently has an Ultraman vibrator. In all seriousness, O'Brien does give us a glimpse of the studio that Kojima works out of and it's a fun little jaunt of a video. There's also O'Brien's reaction to the insanity that is Death Stranding along with the reveal that he'll be a character in the game.

About an hour or so after the tour video went live, Kojima Tweeted out what character O'Brien would be portraying within Death Stranding. Taking a role similar to Geoff Keighley's character, O'Brien will be one of the many merchants that protagonist Sam Bridges can link up with. After first meeting him, characters will be given an otter suit that will help them swim in the water better.

There's a possible conversation to be had about Kojima's celebrity friends diminishing the appeal of Death Stranding, but O'Brien's inclusion feels like something directly out of Metal Gear Solid. Kojima has always had a way with crafting some interesting narratives that don't take themselves seriously. O'Brien's presence is proof of that, with the guy cracking jokes and giving you a seemingly worthless item that modifies your character's look to be goofy. Remember the chicken hood from Metal Gear Solid V?

With the stealth-action title mere weeks away, it'll only be a matter of time until we figure out if this experiment has paid off. I'm certainly excited, but I've also been a fan of Kojima and O'Brien since I was a teenager. This is seemingly a dream come true that I didn't even know I wanted.
