If you’re a fan of guns that actually fire without a three-month cooldown period and good loot that actually has a reasonable chance to drop, stick around. You’re going to like this Contra: Rogue Corps update.

In the gaming world, it’s always great to see publishers and developers asking for consumer feedback. Even better is when they actually act upon it, as the makers of Contra: Rogue Corps seem to be doing here.

You might not think that weapon cooldowns and overheating would be the most interesting changes to put at the forefront of a game’s big update, but it certainly is here. As Siliconera reports, the devs have significantly reduced the time players are left vulnerable when their weapon overheats, as seen in the video below. At launch, the weapon cooldowns were a contentious point among the playerbase, so it makes sense that Konami would work to try and improve them.

So, yes. That means more good old fashioned Contra blasting for your buck, and that’s pretty darn good news whichever way you slice (or shoot) it. Elsewhere in the update, though, players of this madcap arcade blaster are being treated to two new Carnage League levels and an extra pair of Hardcore missions, for those who think they’ve already bested the game’s most difficult stages.

And if even that isn’t enough for you, there’s more. Several bugs have been squashed, the weapon level cap has been boosted to 80, and other damage and balance tweaks have been implemented too, among other minor things. The patch is now live, so hop onto the battlefield and give these new improvements and challenges a go.
