Quick Links
There are lots of fun activities to do on Coral Island. You can explore the place to catch critters, go to the local mines and defeat scary monsters or try out a more relaxing lifestyle and give fishing a chance.
Fishing is a great activity if you want to make some extra bucks at the end of a day, or for if you're trying to complete the museum collection. In this fishing guide for Coral Island, you will learn how to fish, which fishes you can catch, and what to do with them.
How To Get A Fishing Pole
On day three, a letter inviting you to the Beach Shack comes in the mail. Receiving this letter starts the quest "Visit the Beach Shack".
To get to the Beach Shack, just go to the Beach (it is on the southern part of the map) and go inside the building with the "Beach Shack" sign on the front.
Once inside, Sunny and Eleanor will talk to you a little and give you two items: a Basic Fishing Pole and a Basic Bug Catching Net. Later, you can go to the Beach Shack to upgrade your Fishing Pole to an Improved Fishing Pole for 3,700 coins.
How To Catch Fish
Now that you have your fishing pole, go to the nearest body of water. Cast your rod by equipping the tool and then clicking on the area you want to fish.
You will see a bar that goes from one to three. The bigger the number, the further you'll cast your line.
Next, wait for a fish to appear (it'll take around five seconds). After the fish bites, start reeling it in. Keep an eye on the tension zigzag that's above the fishing bar. If the zigzag gets too long, the line will break, and you'll lose the fish.
The best strategy here is to pull the fish in when it's calm, and then quickly let go when it starts wiggling. Keep repeating this process until the fishing bar is filled, and you will get your fish.
How To Increase Your Fishing Skill
There are ten levels to the fishing skill, so the more you fish, the better you will get at it. Currently, there are three rewards you can unlock by increasing your fishing skill.
Level 1 |
Bait Recipe (Bait is yet to be introduced into the game, so you won't be able to craft it.) |
---|---|
Level 2 |
Sashimi Recipe |
Level 6 |
Fish Pond |
Leveling your fishing skill will give you skill points. If you open up your inventory and go to the Mastery tab, you will be able to spend these points on the following skills.
Double Fish |
Five percent chance to catch double fish. |
---|---|
Strong Arms I |
Lowers resistance by five percent while fishing. |
Strong Arms II |
Lowers resistance by ten percent while fishing. |
Where To Fish
Fishing on Coral Island isn't restricted to a specific area. As long as there is water, you will be able to fish. However, the time of the day you fish and the body of water you fish in can determine which type of fish you can catch.
