CD Projekt Red says that the coronavirus outbreak won’t affect Cyberpunk 2077’s release date.

The coronavirus outbreak has already claimed so many victims, from this year’s E3 to various eSports events throughout the world. Games are being delayed, and everyone’s looking at Cyberpunk 2077 thinking that this hotly anticipated RPG is just bound to be next.

Don’t worry; CD Projekt Red has everything under control.

In a tweet posted yesterday, the Polish developer revealed their contingency plans to keep working throughout the outbreak.

"Over the past week, we have been adapting to the situation and gradually rolling out preventative measures across our entire organization,” wrote CD Projekt Red in an official statement. “We've also been upgrading equipment and infrastructure and working towards enabling our employees to work remotely from the safety of their homes.

“Today, as a result of that preparation, CD PROJEKT RED switches to full remote work for as long as it is needed. We think this will grant every team member the highest level of personal health safety. And while this all is a bit new to everyone, we are rising to the challenge and showing no signs of stopping in our effort to bring some kick-ass role-playing action in September."

CD Projekt Red isn’t the only developer taking precautions and allowing their employees to work from home. Bungie announced last week that they would be switching to a work-from-home business model, and Nintendo of America has also started letting employees work from home after a worker came down with COVID-19 and potentially contaminated their offices in Washington.

Poland is certainly not immune to the coronavirus outbreak. The country has already closed its borders and shuttered malls and schools. Gatherings of 50 people or more have also been banned as the total number of confirmed cases rose to 150 on Monday morning.

Being able to work from home will significantly decrease the CD Projekt Red’s chances of contracting the virus while also slowing the spread of the contagion. It’s a smart move, and we expect to hear more big developers institute similar programs as the pandemic continues.

Cyberpunk 2077 is scheduled for release on September 17th this year.
