The following skills should be invested in early on in the game in order to better enjoy the overall experience.Updated on December 27th, 2021 by Geoffrey Martin: Craftopia is a gargantuan sandbox experience and it continues to evolve and grow as time goes on, with new skills being added in subsequent game updates. Even without new ones, the game already had a robust set of skills to work towards unlocking. The skill categories include Basics, Combat, Magic, Living, Trick, and eventually, Tamer. Each of these categories has multiple tiers that open up as you continue to unlock previous skills. Essentially, Craftopia continues to reward you for thoughtful play. Due to the staggering number of gameplay skills, it makes sense to add a couple more to this growing list. Keep in mind that each skill really depends on your preferred playstyle so this is by no means an exhaustive list.

12 Rabbit Jump

Craftopia, aside from being a sandbox crafting game, is also a game about freeform exploration and finding your own unique path in the game world. Because of this, you are going to want to invest in skills that give you the best traversal options; ones that reduce stamina and also increase your general movement.

One of the best early skills to unlock is the Rabbit Jump skill. This skill is simple in that it enhances your jump height with each new upgrade of the skill. The better jump height you have, the better you can reach higher places without draining your stamina via simply climbing.

11 Double-Fish Catch

Any great crafting game should include a fun fishing mechanic. Fortunately for those new to Craftopia, you are gifted with the option to fish pretty early on in the game. Once you craft your first basic wooden fishing rod, you are able to head over to a body of water to start catching some fish to use for recipes, crafting, and the like.

Fishing in Craftopia is quite simple but you are going to want to catch as many fish as possible so that you can consistently sell them for money to fill your coffers or to use for cooking and crafting. The double-fish catch skill gives you the random chance to catch two fish for the price of one with each cast.

10 Dodge Action

A dodge roll or dodge dash ability in any game is essential, especially for one that puts a heavy emphasis on action combat. Craftopia understands this which is why you should unlock the Dodge Action skill early on. There are a lot of enemies to battle across the islands and dungeons in this game.

The Dodge Action, simply put, allows you to dodge out of harm's way at the press of a button. Fortunately, the Dodge Action also gives you some frames of invulnerability to ensure you can move to safety.

9 Meditation

The Meditation skill in Craftopia gives you the passive ability to recover mana. You can continue to level up this skill to bolster the passive mana recovery which comes in especially handy when using the plethora of magic-based skills. It might be easy to overlook this skill from the menu but it's an important one that keeps you from worrying about your mana level.

Craftopia features a massive variety of magical skills to unlock with each one costing a differing amount of mana. While mana recovery might not be as big of a deal when exploring the island, once you delve into one of the many dungeons, you will want to stay topped up on mana.

8 Double Jump

The Double Jump skill is quite self-explanatory. Once unlocked, your character can then do two jumps in the air in order to make it to higher locations on the islands. While this skill in and of itself will enhance exploration, it's in the added ability, namely, that it also gives you increased jump height with each subsequent upgrade.

By investing in Double Jump early on in the game you will be able to access more areas more easily. Stamina is a main component of traversal in this game so the ability to jump higher will only serve to aid you in exploring the islands.

7 Wall Climber

Just like in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, stamina plays a critical role when traversing the open landscapes. In Craftopia, you can climb almost any surface, however, you lose stamina with each wall jump. The wall jumps allow you to more quickly climb up a surface.

One of the best skills to mitigate this consumption is the Wall Climber skill. The Wall Climber skill lowers the consumption rate of stamina, thus allowing you to better traverse and scale the assortment of walls and cliffs the game has. The skill can be upgraded further to continue to lower the overall consumption rate.

6 Quick Pacing

Quick Pacing might be one of the most simple skills that Craftopia has to offer but is arguably one of the best, at least early on in the game. Quick Pacing, as the name implies, increases your movement speed. The islands in Craftopia can be quite large so traversing large swaths of land quickly is important.

While you do eventually get vehicles as a means of quick transportation, early on Quick Pacing will allow you to get across the islands with no problem at all. Fortunately, you can continue to upgrade this skill for even faster movement over time.

5 Triple Slash

Triple Slash is an early skill unlock that simply allows you to do a three-hit weapon attack. This small slash combo makes it so much easier to battle the various foes in Craftopia, especially when dealing with the more difficult dungeon bosses. The Triple Slash skill can also be used with other weapons aside from swords.

Another great feature of this skill is that you can continue to upgrade its ability making it more powerful over time. Since combat is a major part of dungeon diving, this basic combo will help you stay alive for longer.

4 Weapon Polishing

The Weapon Polishing skill is a unique one in that it can only be unlocked and upgraded once. However, this buff allows you to sharpen your weapon so the next attack will be even stronger. That may sound very basic but this skill can be stacked multiple times to further enhance the next attack.

This skill will generally be most useful against strong tank-like enemies such as giant rock monsters or bosses. Since these enemies need a lot of damage to fully takedown, the Weapon Polishing skill will make attacks more robust overall.

3 Lumberjack's Quick Work

The Lumberjack's Quick Work skill is located under the "living" skill tab. Easily one of the best skills to unlock from the get-go, the Lumberjack's Quick Work skill makes chopping down trees with the axe much more efficient. Since the bulk of Craftopia's gameplay comes from crafting, any extra time saved gathering materials is vital.

There are trees all over the islands for you to chop down in order to harvest its logs. Logs are necessary for the early game to craft some of the basic pieces such as the workbench, fishing rod, and even a glider.

2 Miner's Quick Work

Similar to Lumberjack's Quick Work, Miner's Quick Work makes using the pickaxe much more efficient. This skill can also be upgraded to higher levels which increases ore output and decreases mining time overall. It's another very simple skill but is especially important in the early game since ore mounds are littered across the islands.

Don't underestimate the simpler skills like this one. More often than not you will have to unlock skills such as these to even open up the more advanced skill paths.

1 Heal

If you want to last longer in battles, especially in dungeons, the Heal skill should be one that you invest in early on in Craftopia. The Heal skill allows you to perform a quick magical skill that heals your life. You can set this magical skill to your toolbar for quick use. Healing is directly tied to mana so you will need to watch for that as you utilize it.

The Heal skill can become quite robust as it can be levelled up to become much stronger, healing more life while decreasing the overall mana usage.
