This week will mark the beginning of Crash Team Racing: Nitro Fueled's first Nitro Tour Grand Prix season, and we've got everything you need to know about it right here.

Crash Team Racing: Nitro Fueled has been out for well over a week now and if you are anything like us, you still haven't gotten over how great it is. That being said, some of you might have been so excited about its release that you raced through the game's adventure mode, literally. If battling against AIs and racing online is already starting to wear thin, don't despair.

That's because this week marks the start of Nitro-Fueled's first Nitro Tour Grand Prix season. For those unfamiliar with what PlayStation and Beenox have planned, its Nitro Tour Grand Prix season will work in a similar way to Fortnite and Apex Legends. Players will complete challenges in order to build up their Nitro Gauge. The more you fill up your gauge, the more things you unlock. The best part about all of this is that you don't need to purchase a battle pass for access, it's absolutely free.

When Does It Start?

Season one begins this Wednesday (July 3, 2019) and some of the rewards players will be able to earn have been revealed via PlayStation's blog. The biggest rewards of all come in the form of brand new characters. Season one's unlockable characters will be headed up by Tawna Bandicoot and a group of racers called the Nitro Squad. Long time players of CTR will recognize the group as the original game's Trophy Girls. They have deservedly been given a 21st-century facelift and name change.

While unlocking Tawna and the rest of the Nitro Squad will require Nitro Points, a new track coming to the game will not. The track is called Twilight Tour and is an ode to one of the original Crash games, Crash Bandicoot: Warped. Season one will focus on this track, which players will be able to use both online and locally. Each season will introduce a new track that will subsequently be that season's focal point.

Season 2 & 3

While there is extensive information on what to expect from the first season, since it begins this week, info on seasons two and three is sparse. We're not even sure when they're slated to begin. What we do know about season two is its name - Back N. Time. The track it will be focused around is called Prehistoric Playground, and its unlockable characters will be baby versions of Crash and Coco. Plus, we'll also be able to unlock Baby T, another throwback to Crash Bandicoot: Warped.

Season three might well be a way off yet, but it is the one we are the most excited about. That's because it's theme will be Spyro. That's right, the purple dragon is (eventually) coming to the Crash Team Racing universe. We're also assuming that he will be bringing a brand new track and a few other characters from his own franchise along with him.

Unlockable Items

The key thing to remember once July 3 rolls around is that from that point on, you will only have a finite amount of time to unlock all the goodies that come with season one. Fortnite aficionados will know that once a season has been and gone, your chance to unlock the items that came along with it will have passed. We don't know for sure, but we're assuming that if season one ends and you haven't unlocked Tawna Bandicoot, you never will.

Last but not least, the launch of the Nitro Tour Grand Prix will bring about global leaderboards. Your chance to see how you match up with the rest of the players around the world. We hope you have been relentlessly practicing and honing your Nitro-Fueled skills for the past week and a half because now the real work is truly about to begin.
