Crash Team Racing: Nitro Fueled easily took the top spot in the UK's gaming charts this week, selling eight times as many copies its closest rival.

Nothing gets us quite as excited as a well-done remake right now. Whether it's movies or video games, it seems to be what fans currently want most. Why else would Square Enix have put so much effort into the remake of Final Fantasy VII? We finally got a good look at that game at E3 and needless to say, we are already wishing away the time between now and when it's released in 2020.

Rather than wish that time away, why not spend it playing another highly-anticipated remaster? That's what we have been doing for the past few days following the release of Crash Team Racing: Nitro Fueled. It sounds as if we're not the only ones either. According to gamesindustry.biz, Nitro-Fueled shot to the top of the UK gaming charts right away.

Not only is Nitro-Fueled the best-selling game in the UK this week, but it far outsold the country's second best selling game. FIFA 19 took the silver medal, but Nitro-Fueled sold eight times as many copies as the latest chapter of EA's iconic soccer franchise. In fact, the remastered kart racer has had the second-best opening week in Crash Bandicoot history.

Which Crash game is number one, you ask? Well, the N.Sane Trilogy, of course. As excited as Crash fans clearly are for Nitro-Fueled, there was never going to be any competing with the remaster of the original trilogy. What will be interesting to see is how close Nitro-Fueled comes to the 10 million copies the trilogy has sold so far worldwide.

Aside from Nitro-Fueled's lofty placing, perhaps the most impressive thing about the chart above is the placement of Grand Theft Auto V. As we close in on the sixth anniversary of the game's release, it continues to sell more copies than almost all of its rivals. Pretty incredible. Clearly, the promise of a casino being added to GTA V's online mode later this summer is luring in even more gamers.
