Crisis Core Final Fantasy 7 Reunion is the prequel to one of the most beloved JRPGs of all time. Instead of Cloud, SOLDIER Zack Fair leads Crisis Core as its protagonist, and delivers one of the Final Fantasy series' greatest stories to date. Crisis Core Reunion is a full-blown remaster of the title, updating the PSP graphics to modern-day ones compared to that of Final Fantasy 7 Remake.

Even though Crisis Core Final Fantasy 7 Reunion is a fantastic title, there are a handful of changes that we think could make the game even better than it already is.

7 Reverse Cover Art

One of the most disappointing things about the physical release of Crisis Core Final Fantasy 7 Reunion is the lack of inner box art. For most versions, the inside is just a blank white canvas. The front cover of the game is absolutely gorgeous, however, with the amount of art available for Crisis Core, it would have been nice to get additional artwork inside the case.

Square Enix fails to include this most of the time, except with the steelbooks released by them. We would have loved to see the original Crisis Core box art or some of the art drawn by Tetsuya Nomura included inside the cover.

6 A Legacy Voice Pack

Crisis Core

One of the most prominent wants for Crisis Core Final Fantasy 7 Reunion is the addition of a legacy voice pack. While Caleb Pierce and the new cast are phenomenal, we would love to see the original voice actors like Rick Gomez still be included with a legacy voice pack.

The re-recording of lines happened because Square Enix wanted to match the voice actors for Final Fantasy 7 Remake. A legacy pack would be a great way to honor the original voice cast for the work they did with Crisis Core's original release on the PSP.

5 Remade CGI Cutscenes

Square Enix opted to remaster the CGI cutscenes instead of fully remaking them. This is slightly disappointing, as there is clear evidence that Square most likely could have at least swapped the models. With the iconic cutscene of Zack facing the Shinra soldiers, the model of the Buster Sword is completely changed to match Final Fantasy 7 Remake.

New and improved models to match the quality found in the game, as well as Remake, would have been a nice treat to show the quality of this remaster. The remastered cutscenes are great, but we would have loved to see them be remade with newer models.

4 Add Chapter Select

Unfortunately, Crisis Core Final Fantasy 7 Reunion does not include chapter selection. This is a feature that was available in Final Fantasy 7 Remake, which allows you to quickly hop between chapters at will. This feature would have been a great addition to Crisis Core Reunion, as it would have limited the need to add a save for all chapters in the game.

This is not a necessity, but a quality-of-life feature that would go a long way. Luckily, there are plenty of save slots to make a save for each chapter. For those new to Crisis Core this might not be an issue, but it can be a nuisance for returning players.

3 More Depth To Zack and Cloud's Dynamic

Crisis Core FF7 Cloud Young

Zack and Cloud have such a fascinating relationship, and while the dialogue between them in Crisis Core Final Fantasy 7 Reunion is amazing, we would have loved to see it expanded.

Since this dynamic did not get expanded in Final Fantasy 7 for obvious reasons, it would have been nice to see Square Enix give some additional scenes with this remaster of Crisis Core. We might not have to worry though, as Rebirth might deliver on the scenes of Zack and Cloud we've been longing for.

2 A Grander Role For Cissnei

Cissnei Final Fantasy 7 Crisis Core

Cissnei is one of the best side characters in Crisis Core Final Fantasy 7 Reunion. We would have loved to see some new content involving her more. Her role in the game overall is pretty minimal, which is disappointing since she has great writing and a wonderful voice actor.

Hopefully, Square Enix will decide to include her in the future of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake project.

1 A Tease Of Rebirth

Finally, we would have loved to see the end of this game include a sneak peek at what's to come with Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth - the second title in the Final Fantasy 7 Remake project, scheduled to release in Winter 2023. Revealed in the Summer of 2022, the first trailer shows a familiar scene of Zack and Cloud walking back to Midgar.

With Zack Fair seemingly involved in the story of Rebirth, a tease of what his involvement might be, continuing from Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade would have been great to see. Although this is not present, it is respectable as the game is a true 1:1 remaster of the original, which in itself might tell us something regarding the future of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake project.
