Hello Critters, "it's been awhile!" In this week's episode of Critical Role, the cast returns to the table for the first time since quarantine for the 100th episode of the campaign. Despite it being pre-recorded, viewership peaked at over 112,000 viewers for this episode. This episode features a lot of rustiness from the cast after 3 months of the show being on hiatus, but has some great moments nonetheless. The best moments of this milestone Dungeons & Dragons episode include a nice message from Sam, dragon turtle polymorphing, water skiing, an eye rave, and an encounter with an interesting new character.

A Heartwarming Returning Message

"-is it Thursday yet?" After three months of hiatus, Sam introduces the show with a poem in place of the time at the beginning of the episode when he would usually do an ad. The poem thanks the audience for their patience as the cast and crew moved toward a set-up where they could host the show while abiding by COVID-19 safety guidelines.

Maybe A Different Sea Creature?

The Mighty Nein are faced with battling a dragon turtle while aboard their ship, the turtle being a ginormous creature that proceeds to damage the ship severely. Jester attempts to polymorph the dragon turtle, deciding to change its shape into a regular sea turtle, imagining that it would be more manageable at that size. The Mighty Nein then sails away quickly, knowing that the polymorph spell only lasts an hour. After 20 or so minutes, the party double-checks to see if the turtle is still following them, and to their horror, realize that the sea turtle was matching their speed and that the polymorph only helped the dragon turtle hunt them down.

Caleb Goes Water-Skiing

In order to fix this problem, Caleb and Jester attempt to get close enough to the sea turtle to cast polymorph again and turn the creature into something less fast and threatening. The party had not only been given the ability to breathe underwater, but also the ability to walk on it. Caleb and Jester strap on some wooden planks in order to water-ski towards victory. Unfortunately, Caleb is not the most agile water-skier.

Caduceus' Rave Eyes

While the Mighty Nein explore the island of Rumblecusp, they find themselves in a lush jungle. Caduceus takes precautionary measures and casts Eyes of the Grave to determine if there is an undead presence nearby. Yasha notices for the first time that Caduceus' eyes turn black as he does this, and in turn, Caduceus decides to humor her.

A New Encounter

As the Mighty Nein explore Rumblecusp, they discover an entire community and culture living on the island. As they enter the dwelling, a half-elven woman named Viridian introduces herself, and she seems rather majestic. Who exactly this woman is will need to be uncovered by the Mighty Nein in future episodes of Critical Role.
