Where most services are raising prices to account for inflation, supply chain issues, and the rising cost of labor, Crunchyroll is defying expectations with a surprise drop in pricing for its premium subscription plans. This will surely cause current subscribers to breathe a sigh of relief following the anime streaming platform’s purchase by Sony last year.

Crunchyroll has just announced price drops in nearly 100 territories. Sadly, those territories do not include the USA, Canada, or Mexico, but they do include the UK, India, Brazil, Israel, the UAE, South Korea, the Philippines, and many more locations in Europe, Asia, Africa, and South and Central America.

The anime streaming service didn’t include a full list of the price decreases, but they did note a few price drops for its Mega Fan subscription tier, which allows for offline viewing and streaming on up to four devices. In the UK, a month of Mega Fan is dropping from 7.99 to 5.99 GBP, whereas a month in Mega Fan in Brazil will drop from 32.00 to 19.99 Brazilian Real. Indian Crunchyroll users will be able to enjoy a month of Mega Fan for 99 Indian Rupees, while The UAE’s Mega Fan prices will drop from $9.99 USD to 19 UAE Dirham, which is almost half the former price when factoring currency conversion.

In other Crunchyroll news, the streaming service is rebooting a '90s classic that fans will definitely want to see. Trigun will be reborn in Trigun Stampede courtesy of Studio Orange, the same animation studio that brought us both Beastars and Land of the Lustrous. The show will air on Crunchyroll beginning sometime in 2023, with an all new voice cast. A trailer revealed at Anime Expo showed a series that will largely follow the first anime, detailing the adventures of Vash the Stampede, a terrifying outlaw whose reputation for death and destruction is belied by his pacifist nature.
