Crunchyroll Games and Viz Media have partnered to create Grand Alliance, a new "RPG brawler" for mobile devices. The title is published by Gaudium, a company known for free-to-play title Armor Blitz.

Viz Media isn't a common name in the gaming industry – rather, it's typically involved in anime and manga production. It previously created a well-received Legend of Zelda line of manga, so it's not entirely new to the world of video games, but this will be the first time the company will produce an "anime-inspired mobile app game."

Grand Alliance will follow the story of Amelia, the last surviving princess of the empire, as she tries to unite a nation in turmoil after her family's assassination. Gameplay is heavily combat driven – you'll outfit a team of three heroes before fighting enemies in real-time. There are over 30 different heroes for you to collect, each with their own stats, abilities, and backstories. Viz Media says Grand Alliance will feature an "equipable skill collection system," letting you tailor your characters' abilities to your playstyle.

It seems that the title is already quite popular, too, with over 90,000 pre-registrants – all of whom will receive the following in-game items:

  • 25,000 Gold
  • 25 of each Class Emblem
  • 1,250 Gems
  • Tier 5 Skill Gravity Bomb
  • Clarissa, a secret agent Hero who serves House Courcillon

All new players can take advantage of a seven-day login calendar that will provide an early boost to your skills, and you'll even be given another hero, Daisy.

CEO at Gaudium, Andrew Yang – not to be confused with this Andrew Yang – says that the team is "extremely excited to be partnering with Crunchyroll and Viz Media to get 'Grand Alliance' out to the world. The development team has poured their hearts into making this game fun and exciting for anime fans and mobile gamers alike. With Crunchyroll at the helm, we're sure it will get into the hands of many passionate gamers who will fall in love with the world of 'Grand Alliance'."

Grand Alliance is available for free on iOS and Android devices.
