As revealed during Microsoft's Gamescom conference today, Paradox Interactive will be porting its hit strategy RPG Crusader Kings 3 to next-gen consoles sometime in the future. Exclusively available on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, Paradox has teamed up with developer Lab42 to adapt the complex control scheme of this previously PC exclusive series to gamepads. Now you can rule over your kingdom with an iron fist from the comfort of your couch.

Thanks to the power afforded by next-gen devices, Crusader Kings 3 will feature super-fast load times, have integration with Xbox Series X|S's web browser, make use of the PS5's various social tools, and have unique DualSense haptic feedback triggers for certain in-game events and mechanics. It sounds like a lot of effort is going into how players will interact with this specific port.

Why is Paradox porting this series to consoles? As it just so happens, the console release of Stellaris is to thank for the decision. Lab42 made a solid conversion of the tricky and complex strategy title that managed to sell reasonably well. As such, Paradox thought it was time that console players got in on its Medieval-themed strategy game.

There's no exact date for when Crusader Kings 3 will rise to power on next-gen consoles, but we can expect more news later in the year. The trailer above shows the game running reasonably smoothly, so I have faith that Paradox can get this out before the holidays. Now if we could just get mouse and keyboard support, it would be perfect.
