Jason Lake, the CEO of Complexity Gaming, has announced that Owen "oBo" Schlatter has decided to leave the esports organization. The 17-year-old, who joined the CS:GO team on June 5, 2019, had intended to return to the United States after the ESL Pro League playoffs, which are slated to run from September 29 to October 4, but finally decided to leave on Tuesday.

"Over the player break, oBo expressed reservations about returning to Europe," Lake said in a press conference on his stream. "He ultimately decided to return [to the United States] approximately 24 hours ago, and he informed the team he'd be returning to the US at the conclusion of the EPL playoffs." oBo, who has been competing since 2016, currently plays as a rifler in CS:GO. His estimated winnings exceed $131,000.

Lake says that Complexity, which is based in Frisco, Texas, will try to find oBo a new team in North America. In the meantime, the organization is looking for a replacement for oBo and hopes to find "the absolute best player available." The CEO, however, noted that buyouts are "a bit ridiculous," emphasizing that the organization will "not be extorted by teams trying to capitalize on this situation."

While they search for a new player, Complexity has substituted oBo with the team's coach, Jamie "keita" Hall, in the DreamHack Open Fall closed qualifier. So far, the new lineup has lost their first match in the double-elimination bracket to Portuguese side sAw, and will compete against SJ in the lower bracket.

There are doubts as to whether Complexity will be able to find a permanent replacement in time for the ESL Pro League Season 12 playoffs next week. Lake has stated that if they cannot find a replacement, they will have to use an emergency substitute in the league's bracket stage.

The Complexity team now includes:

Benjamin "blameF" Bremer (Denmark)

William "RUSH" Wierzba (United States)

Kristian "k0nfig" Wienecke (Denmark)

Valentin "poizon" Vasilev (Bulgaria)

Coach Jamie "keita" Hall (United Kingdom)

Complexity Gaming is one of the oldest esports organizations still active in the CS:GO scene, having first fielded a team in 2004. The organization also competes in Call of Duty, Dota 2, Hearthstone, Gwent: The Witcher Card Game, Rocket League, Clash Royale, Fortnite and Madden.
