Cuphead: The Delicious Last Course is an excellent game for co-op play. Cuphead and Mugman are a dynamic duo who have faced the literal devil in their debut game. The Delicious Last Course adds a third playable character to the mix in the form of the adorable Ms.Chalice, and you’ve got a recipe for some delicious co-op content.
Cuphead is better with friends, and it feels like one of those games meant to be played that way. As you and a friend grab Cuphead, Mugman, or Ms.Chalice, you’ll find yourself quickly acclimating to playing with someone else. This means complementing one another’s playstyle and choosing the best power-ups to equip for co-op play.
7 Astral Cookie
The Astral Cookie allows one of you to turn into Ms.Chalice, effectively making her a playable character. Yes, it does take up a charm slot; however, it's worth it. Regarding co-op play, Ms. Chalice is essential to improving your experience with her invincible roll and dash parry. There's no better way to save someone in co-op than being invincible when trying to get to them, ensuring you make it to them without dying.
More importantly, parrying them back to life can sometimes be a challenge if your partner has succumbed to one of the bosses. Dashing to parry is the easiest way to save them, and being able to double jump and dash into your partner's soul before it leaves the screen is a great way to keep the co-op experience going throughout the whole level.
6 Super Art 2
When playing as Ms.Chalice, be sure to equip her Super Art 2. This specific super art allows her to summon a familiar who will take one hit for you.
Anything that allows one of you to stay alive longer is great for co-op play. When it comes down to the wire, being able to shield yourself gives your partner enough time to save you if necessary.

The super meter is great for co-op gameplay. It makes you invincible, and you can also use it to get through a tough bout. You can also use it craftily during co-op to save your partner from being hit. Using your super meter at the right time can save you and your partner, whether using it to save them from death or a hit. The Coffee Charm will continuously fill your super meter, meaning you also don't have to fight your partner to parry any pink items in an attempt to fill up your meter on your own.
4 The Chaser
This long-range shot is perfect for co-op play. Cuphead requires your attention to be split across the screen, and the chaser shot will hit the enemy with no aiming needed. If your partner is dealing high damage, this allows you to spend less time worrying about trying to aim and more time ensuring you don't get hit by anything in the level while focusing on staying alive to save your partner if they get a bit too close. You'll also be able to focus on saving your partner while still doing damage, even if the chaser shot diminishes it.
3 The Spread Shot
The best damage-dealing power-up to use is the spread shot. It's a short-range shot, but it does high damage. With a partner watching your back, you can dish out the damage to take down the boss while they play healer, ready to bring you back from the brink if things get too dangerous. You must complement your partner's choices here, ensuring they grab the chaser and hang back while you grab the spread shot and move forward.
2 The Converge Shot
This three-way shot covers the entire screen and allows you to narrow the spread of the shot. The converge shot is an excellent choice for co-op play as you can save your partner from multiple obstacles, sometimes even inadvertently. With the proper positioning, the converge shot can save lots of lives between you and your partner. Being able to narrow the spread is an excellent addition as well.
1 Twin Hearts
The Twin Hearts charm is an essential addition for a co-op playthrough of Cuphead. This item allows one player to start with five health points, meaning there will be eight to nine lives between you and your co-op partner. The Twin Hearts charm significantly diminishes your damage output, making it a risky choice for a single-player playthrough. In a co-op run, however, the Twin Hearts charm can be paired with a partner using the spread shot to compensate for some of the lackluster damage.
Using the Twin Hearts charm to stay back and keep your lives to save your partner, paired with the auto-aiming chaser shot to keep up continuous damage, will make you great support in the battle. Paired with a partner who uses a high damage spread shot and can quickly become invincible, saving themselves and parrying your soul if you do happen to go down makes a formidable co-op couple that can take down any boss with the right strategy.
