Wikipedia is a great place to learn about things that you didn't know. The site, famously, can be edited by anyone with an account—though there are editors who occasionally check the veracity of the submissions. One would assume that major brands, such as Sony, would take an active role in maintaining their own Wikipedia pages. However, it appears that this is not the case, as curtains can be found in the background of the "official" picture of the PS5 on Wikipedia.

The PS5 has become Sony's best selling console ever. People are eager to get their hands on one of the systems that some have accidentally bought pictures of the console, rather than the console itself. Luckily, eBay has stepped in to try and mitigate mistakes like that, however, there is very little to be done about "scalper groups" that are buying consoles by the thousands.

Of course, all of this will be chronicled in the annals of Wikipedia as a history lesson (or warning) for future generations - though Sony may want to check the page for brand consistency. As of this writing, the header image for the PS5 Wikipedia page appears to be that of a private PS5 owner.

The image was originally uploaded to the site on November 30, though it was from a different angle. Two additional uploads ultimately resulted in the image that you see above. The page itself is what Wikipedia calls "semi-protected" meaning that you will need to have had an account for between four and 10 days and has made at least 10 edits.

The process for changing the page's image is buried pretty deep in the page's code, so it's unlikely to change unless someone is determined to do so. The page's protection status is typically used, according to Wikipedia, to prevent "a significant amount of disruption or vandalism" on the page from unregistered users. Given that the PS5 is likely to see a lot of traffic, this makes sense. Wikipedia's highly democratic approach to information sharing means that, unless someone wants to change the header image, the official image of the PS5 will be a picture of someone's living room window.
