Since its release in December, players have been putting in those hours exploring the world of Cyberpunk 2077. Even though the game is a buggy mess on base consoles, CD Projekt Red has already recovered the development costs via the pre-orders themselves. In the game, players get to play as V- a mercenary whose sole goal is to make it big in the city of dreams. The game features an array of customization features including character creation. While players may not be able to rock a neon schlong in Night City, there are a plethora of other customization features that make up for it.

On the other hand, some glaring missing features should have been included in a game of this calibre.

10 Customizable: V's Physical Appearance

Cyberpunk 2077 features a wide variety of options and parameters to customize the character. This is also something that CD Projekt Red has been promoting consistently since the E3 2018 demo. There are infinite possibilities when it comes to character customization with things such as eye colour, jaw shape and even tone of voice. Some players have also been able to create versions of Squidward. It's safe to say that CD Projekt Red delivered on their promise of extensive character customization.

9 Not Customizable: Car Modification

Vehicles are an important part of Cyberpunk 2077. While there is no dearth of variety when it comes to vehicles, none of them can be personalised. There are some vehicles available with unique paint jobs but none of the aspects can be altered. Keeping in mind the Cyberpunk genre, the lack of modification seems to be confusing...to say the very least. A few decals or simple paint jobs could have done the trick.

8 Customizable: Lifepaths

Lifepath selection in Cyberpunk 2077

The lifepath feature has been praised and not without good reason. Lifepaths open up several dialogue options in the game and can often impact questlines in a major way. Currently, the game offers three lifepaths that include Nomad, Street Kid and Corpo. Each lifepath features a different introduction. The first 30 minutes of the game will be unique to each lifepath but after that, things become common amongst all three.

It's yet to be decided on how much of an impact it will have on replayability.

7 Not Customizable: Weapon Skins

Another foolish choice by CD Projekt Red is not having weapon skins. While guns can be modified in terms of attachments, players have no options to cosmetically modify their weapons. Similar to vehicles, some weapons do have unique skins but none of them can be personalised. In fact, the game is entirely in the first-person perspective, except driving, which makes weapon skins more visible. Let's hope that CD Projekt Red finds a way to implement this in future updates.

6 Customizable: Attributes

Attribute tree Cyberpunk 2077

Right after the character creation menu, players get an opportunity to select their initial attributes. Attributes are the parent branches of individual perks. They include Body, Intelligence, Reflexes, Intelligence, and Cool. These can be upgraded by using attribute points earned while progressing through the game. They're one of the good features of Cyberpunk 2077 as they enable players to access blocked areas or drive certain vehicles. They have a massive impact on the gameplay.

5 Not Customizable: Apartment

After the initial lifepath related mission, players will get access to V's apartment. The apartment is stylized according to the times but players cannot give it their personal touch, which is just absurd. The apartment remains exactly how it is all the way to the end. CD Projekt Red should have added the option to allow players to change or upgrade their apartment. Maybe a few posters or music records could have done the trick.

The best example of this can be seen in the Blood and Wine DLC of The Witcher 3 in which Geralt can modify and hang paintings or armour throughout his estate.

4 Customizable: Cybernetic Enhancements

Ripperdocs and cybernetic prostheses make for an integral part of the Cyberpunk genre as a whole. In Cyberpunk 2077, players can upgrade their character or gain specific abilities by fitting upgrades like optics or arms. These allow players to use tech weapons as well as unlock special abilities in the game. There are many such enhancements available for use in the game but a lot of them are quite expensive. A couple of playthroughs will allow players to get through all of them.

3 Not Customizable: Stash

Display wall in Cyberpunk 2077

The stash is an area in V's apartment which stores weapons and can be used to modify them as well. The walls in the area have portions which can house guns and swords as well. Surprisingly, all these portions remain empty and players can only put some of their weapons on display. Some unique weapons can be found in these portions but there's no customization. It's pointless to have such areas in the wall when players cannot keep their choice of weapon in it. The choice is restricted to iconic weapons only.

2 Customizable: Weapon Sights And Mods

There are plenty of weapons available for players to use in Cyberpunk and each of them can be fitted with custom optics and mods. While mods increase the gun's stats or give them unique firing modes, sights improve ADS time and increase/decrease zoom level. The addition of these features is a godsend because some of the iron sights are just plain rubbish and obstructive.

Mods can make players go back to old guns to try out new ways to use them.

1 Not Customizable: Post Character Creation Appearance

While it's understandable that players cannot change their physical appearance completely post character creation in the beginning-- why are there no barbers in Night City? In Cyberpunk 2077, players cannot make any cosmetic changes to their character after the initial customization. This excludes clothing items. Something as simple as a haircut should have been an option in Night City. It's likely that CD Projekt Red will implement these changes in the coming months or years.
