Cyberpunk 2077 has a lot to take in, which is why we’ve written multiple guides for powering up your characters, equipping weapons, mods, and much more. But even after taking into account all of your equipment, weapons, and Cyberware, there’s still more to take on board, and that includes weapon and armour mods.

Weapon and armour mods do pretty much exactly what it sounds like, and modifies your piece of equipment to be more powerful and deadly - usually, at least. There are dozens of different effects that the mods can create, and as such, they can be crafted and honed to complement your build in Cyberpunk 2077 - on that note, please do make sure to check out build guides.

In this guide, we’re going to break down how you can craft mods and improve your armour, weapons, and more with the tools at your disposal in Cyberpunk 2077.

The Perks You Need In Cyberpunk 2077

Okay, so there are two perks that will vastly speed up the process of gathering items and materials for crafting. Make sure to take a look at our other recommended perks here.

  • Mechanic
  • Scrapper

These two perks will allow you to instantly disassemble junk items for materials and will give you more materials for disassembly. This makes things much faster and more convenient.

  • True Craftsman
  • Grease Monkey
  • Edgerunner Artisan

Now these perks are a bit more simple, and only truly useful if you’re dedicating a lot of time and effort to crafting powerful items. These perks allow you to craft Rare, Epic, and Legendary items, respectively. If you want to create the best mods in the game to power you up, you’ll need all of these, though you’ll get pretty far with just the True Craftsman perk.

Getting Crafting Recipes In Cyberpunk 2077

The recipes and crafting specs for mods and a variety of other items in Cyberpunk 2077 can be found pretty much everywhere, but the best ones are found in fairly select locations. We’ll list a few of the most useful here…

  • Armadillo Clothing Mod - Boosts clothing defense - Looted from Assault In Progress in Watson
  • Backpacker Clothing Mod - Allows you to carry more items - Found in chests, sold by clothing vendors
  • Crunch Weapon Mod - Increases headshot damage - Sold by weapon vendors

When visiting weapon and clothing vendors you should be sure to double-check the mods and crafting recipes they have available - mod recipes will remain valuable throughout your entire time playing the game, and if vendors happen to be selling rare mods or items then it can give you a massive boost to your stats. Definitely worthwhile if you already have plenty of money.

Upgrading Items In Cyberpunk 2077

You can also upgrade your items in Cyberpunk 2077, which can once again feed into your ideal builds and help you create an even more powerful character, and if you’re investing into your Tech skill tree in order to craft all of these lovely items, then you may as well start upgrading your items too.

On your Crafting menu, there’s a second subscreen called Upgrades, and you can upgrade your clothes, weapons, Cyberware, and more in exchange for a few crafting components. Some of these components can be rare, but that’s why you already got those disassembly perks we mentioned above, right?

If you find yourself lacking a few important crafting components, you can visit vendors, and many of them will sell even legendary crafting components, just at a very high price. Make sure to check out our guide to making a lot of eddies if you want this to go as easily as possible.
