The internet exploded when Elon Musk revealed Tesla's new futuristic SUV, the Cybertruck, and according to a couple of tweets, the clunky vehicle may also make an appearance in the upcoming CD Projekt Red game, Cyberpunk 2077. Based on a Twitter exchange between Elon Musk and the official Cyberpunk 2077 account, the Cybertruck popping up in CD Projekt Red's unreleased sci-fi RPG is a real possibility.
The Cybertruck seems like it would fit much better in a world like Cyberpunk's Night City than it would in reality, as its thick, metallic style looks like something straight out of Blade Runner. Not only that, but the SUV holds a strong resemblance to the first-generation Pokémon, Porygon. Either way, the vehicle is still in the testing stages, which was clear during the Cybertruck's shatter-proof window demonstration, which ironically ended in the windows shattering.
We had a deal, Elon 👀— Cyberpunk 2077 (@CyberpunkGame) November 22, 2019
As you might have expected, the vehicle will be great for the environment, but what really comes as a surprise is the Cybertruck's cost. One might guess that a vehicle as large and as unique as this one might run for around $200,000, but it will reportedly only cost $39,900. When you compare that to other environmentally-friendly SUVs, that's quite the bargain. If you end up buying a Cybertruck, you can be sure to catch the attention of your neighbors, for better or worse.
Cyberpunk 2077's exchange with Musk serves as yet another hype-building moment for what is surely the most anticipated game of 2020. Back in July, CD Projekt Red revealed that Keanu Reeves would play a primary character in the game named Johnny Silverhand, which could not have been a better decision given the actor's immense popularity throughout 2019. Following the fantastic The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, expectations for a futuristic RPG with an incredible level of exploration and depth are through the roof, and most people trust CD Projekt Red to deliver.
Although Cyberpunk 2077's futuristic depiction of society may be 57 years away, Tesla's Cybertruck makes it seem as if we're closer to that world than we may realize. The game will be available for PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Google Stadia on April 16, 2020, and the Cybertruck is expected to hit Tesla dealerships in late 2021 or early 2022.
