Examining The Peralez Apartment

Sometime after finishing the 'I Fought The Law' side job, Jefferson Peralez will call you to his apartment to help him with a personal issue. Once you arrive he'll explain that somebody broke into the Peralez penthouse, and Jefferson shot him dead right before passing out.

Jefferson leaves to attend to some political matters, and you'll be given free roam of the apartment to explore and investigate further.

There are many items for you to gather information on, so be sure to check every nook and cranny with your scanner, as the messages you find on the computers and all the items that provide interesting data will shed light on how Elizabeth's memory isn't as sharp as it should, and something else is going on.

On the upper floor, near the bedroom, you'll be able to find washed bloodstains on the floor while scanning, and if you follow this trail you will inevitably detect a large door hidden in the wall.

You can open the door if you have enough Body stat points, or you can examine the computer on the lower floor, near the security equipment, and open the secret entrance through the Local Network menu.

Inside the hidden control room, Elizabeth will get a headache and a panic attack, as this proves that the security team has been secretly spying on the Peralez couple, and probably controlling them. Check the computer in this room thoroughly, and then scan the cables coming from the machine in the center that will lead you to a ladder to the roof.

Once you're outside, you will find an old antenna transmitting to another one a few blocks away, with a mysterious black van parked nearby. Check on Elizabeth one more time and head outside for a vehicle chase.

Finding The Transmission Source

When you arrive at the second antenna, you will find a black van that will quickly try to run away. Chase it through the city with your car as closely as you can, and it'll lead you to an abandoned place full of maelstrom enemies to kill.

It is highly suggested to go to the waypoint in a vehicle and never get off, or the van will quickly gain distance, making this part way harder.

Whether you choose to be stealthy or kill every single enemy in this area, you will end up observing an "invisible" AV running away from this place, so the only remaining thing to do is to investigate the van. After hacking into the vehicle, your worst fears get confirmed; the Peralez family is having their minds altered, as their memories are being wiped and new ones are being implanted, without their awareness.

Once you're done with this, call Elizabeth, and she'll arrange a meeting in a ramen place, far from her apartment. She will confess she knew this was happening after a few strange occurrences, but after a threatening call she decided to not put her life or Jefferson's at risk, so she'll ask you not to explain everything to Jefferson, and instead pin it on a political opponent.

Talking To Jefferson

Now it's time to talk to Jefferson, but before you even approach, you'll receive an ominous threat from an unknown caller, telling you that your decisions will not change the outcome, and when you talk to Jefferson it'll be up to you to pin it on an assassination attempt by Holt or confess everything.

Either way, Jefferson will fully believe you and decide to act on the information you provide, and depending on your choice he'll focus on winning the elections and then confronting Holt, or play along with the people messing with his head until it's the right time to expose them.

Everything will go quiet with the Peralez family until you receive a string of concerning messages, first from Elizabeth, then from Jefferson, and after this point, you will be blocked by them and will be unable to call or message them again.

You will get a call from Jefferson during the credits sequence of Cyberpunk 2077, once you have finished the main story quests. Jefferson will call, and talk about how "they" have changed him again, and how his wife has noticed.
