Following Monday's Night City Wire event, more details have emerged in proving just how immersive Cyberpunk 2077 intends on being. CD Projekt Red seems to be exploring just how much it can evolve the age-old cutscene format — this time with ever-changing dialogue options by way of a mere glance in the wrong direction.

Not only will cutscenes adapt in such a way, but the player could very well see things in the background that can have game-changing consequences on how quests are played and how certain characters are dealt with. It adds a whole new layer of immersion and necessary awareness when in the middle of what may seem on the surface to be a rather mundane encounter. That is, right up until a pistol gets pressed into V's temple.

News of Cyberpunk 2077 cutscenes being primarily first-person instantly made fans a bit upset and skeptical about the overall feel it would have on the finished product. However, as one Cyberpunk 2077 dev previously explained, immersion was at the forefront of this decision. Now, this concept is clearly shown in full. Not only will a player's chosen Lifepath have an everlasting effect on the story of the game, but so too will V's interactions with characters in cutscenes.

It's an interesting and mind-boggling concept, brought to light in the September issue of the Official PlayStation Magazine (via Art of Review). Dialogue in Cyberpunk 2077 will take similar concepts seen in The Witcher 3 and expound upon them, so much so that looking around in mid-conversation can alter dialogue options and potentially allow players to see occurrences in the background they may have missed otherwise, like easter eggs, muggings, or an assortment of other random events. Timed dialogue choices will also be making a return, only this time with far more advanced options at the player's disposal.

It doesn't stop at mere looks and missed easter eggs either, as CDPR Lead Story Writer, Tomasz Marchewka, expresses more broadly in an interview with VG24/7:

"Yes, we try and make the world react to whatever you do...So, there are going to be consequences of what you do, and while it seems small, if you multiply it by the number of scenes where it could happen, it gives a good impression of the world reacting to whatever you do, and you being a certain type of person."

Given that side quests in Cyberpunk 2077 are so in-depth they can be played to finish the game, it only makes sense this level of immersion is being drawn out as much as possible. The player's chosen Lifepath is sort of like a baseline for the game, a background for the story to then catapult into a world of ever-revolving scenarios that can then even themselves branch out into a multitude of different ways depending on how V interacts in these moments.

Cyberpunk 2077 is clearly shaping up to be an absolute masterpiece and, given this level of immersion, may well be revolutionary for the industry in terms of cutscene mechanics and dialogue options. The dark future awaits all on November 19th.
