Fellas, is it gay to accidentally have sex with another man in Cyberpunk 2077?

Cyberpunk 2077, like many other games of its ilk, features a variety of different romance options for your character to pursue. These range from basic one-night stands at the No-Tell Motel to bonafide romantic commitments that actually influence how the game ends. But you can't go for just anyone - just like you have your own personal preferences in real life, the romanceable characters in Cyberpunk 2077 have their own distinct types.

This is pretty standard fare for a modern RPG. You form platonic friendships with the main cast of characters and, if you play your cards right and meet the correct prerequisites, can often pursue a more romantic relationship with one, or potentially several of them.

The funny thing about Cyberpunk 2077 is that loads of lads are wetting their pants because they accidentally went to boomtown with another bloke.

My favourite example of this is a Reddit post that recently went relatively viral. Check this out:

"When you have to pick Angel or Skye I thought Angel was the chick, so this guy puts the moves on me, then later this guy outside a club asks me if I want a dance and I'm like, oh, let's go in, I bet I get to choose which dancer I get. NO. This man takes you in a room and bangs you with an unskippable cutscene. I'mma delta out to Red Dead Redemption 2 for a while choombas."

This has since been made into multiple memes like this one. I understand people have sexual preferences - I am straight, for example - but do you really care all that much about a ten-second cutscene in a video game? I have romanced Dorian in Dragon Age: Inquisition three times because it's the best romance option in the game. You don't need to shit yourself every time someone says they're into men. They probably don't go for eejits like you anyway.

On a similar note, lads have gotten really annoyed about the fact Judy Alvarez - potentially the best character in the game - doesn't like them in that way. This "real men simp for Panam" meme feels like a direct result of going, "No, you didn't reject me, I never liked you anyway, haha imagine thinking you rejected me, as if," which is reflected both in the comments and over on Twitter. Don't get me wrong, Panam is great and that's the romance I'm doing - but again, the insecurity about even the mildest depictions of homosexuality here is really weird.

While writing this, I came across one post where someone complained that they "keep having hardcore sex with men," to which one commenter responded with "eww". Mate, come on. It's 2020. Grow up. Your opinions are eww.

I'm going to start a new Cyberpunk 2077 save soon and I'm considering going for the Kerry romance, because apparently it's pretty great. That doesn't mean I fancy Kerry and have to uproot my entire life and never speak to a woman ever again. You can do whatever you want in life - but I reckon if you're this upset about accidentally banging a lad in a video game, you're probably have a lot of growing up to do.
