Sometimes the law just isn't on your side in Cyberpunk 2077, and if you haven't already gleaned that from your time in Night City, then this quest will convince you. After wreaking some havoc with Panam, you will receive a mysterious call from a powerful character, ready to meet you.
Night City is full of corruption, crime, and money, and at the very least, two of those three things are involved in what seems to be a conspiration against the political upper echelon in this city of sin. Here's everything you need to know about it.

Meeting With Elizabeth And Jefferson Peralez
Sometime after finishing the Life During Wartime side job, you will receive a call from Elizabeth Peralez, wife of mayoral candidate Jefferson Peralez, asking you to meet personally. Once you arrive at the meeting point, you'll be invited inside a car where the couple will brief you on the recent death of Night City's mayor, and their suspicions that his death wasn't as natural as the police make it look.
They'll ask you to witness a Braindance scene of the previous assassination attempt on the mayor for them to have your expert opinion, and this one is fairly simple to crack compared to the ones you'll find in the main quests, so you won't have many secrets to find. However, there are some specific moments you should check during the scene, as follows:
- Mayor's Conversation - Audio Layer - 0:15
- Mysterious Figure - Visual Layer- 1:00
- CCTV Monitor - Visual Layer - 1:00
Once you're done with the Braindance, you will have two names: Peter Horvath, the assassin, and River Ward, an NCPD Detective and probably the only incorruptible cop in Night City. Jefferson will send you the contact information of River Ward, and once you call him he will tell you to meet at the Chubby Buffalo's, so that's where you need to go now.
Investigating With River
After meeting with River and partnering up with him, you'll learn more about the assassin, and you can choose to go and meet his employer, or meet River's informant. The order in which you complete these objectives is not important.
Meeting the employer is a simple task, as she won't give you too much information but it'll bring some context to Peter Horvath's life, and you will have a minor hostile encounter being triggered upon returning to River's car. You can shoot out the goons that swarm River's vehicle or, if you're following the Streetkid lifepath, you can talk your way out of the situation.
Now, when you ride with River to his informant's workplace and tell him the secret salute, he will run away and you'll need to chase him down. You can either break down the door or run outside and catch up with him, but once you get out River will be waiting, and he'll give you the information you need, with the whereabouts of the Red Queen's Race club.
Infiltrating Red Queen's Race
Once you arrive at the meeting point, you must sit and wait for River, until the appropriate time to reunite.
Getting inside the warehouse is easy enough, as there are several broken points in the fence surrounding it, and jumping over to infiltrate is simple enough. There's an entrance either at the back of the warehouse with only a single guard patrolling the area, or you can also get in through the roof, as long as you stay vigilant for enemies.
The entrance to the nightclub is in the center of the warehouse, and if you use your scan ability on one of the containers in the room you should see the door highlighted. All you need to do now is move over and open it up, so as long as you're been quiet, you should only have two goons wandering the ground floor here, and they're easy enough to distract or sneak past.
While in the club, make sure to stay hidden and shut down all the security cameras, but also keep in mind that there aren't many enemies inside, and there's no penalty for finishing them off. Make your way through to the back room up the stairs on the left side, and then you'll be able to use the computer inside that room to find everything you need to know.
Go through all the files in the computer until you get to watch the video showing the truth behind this mystery, and you will find out that River's partner helped cover up the circumstances of the late Mayor's death. A scene where River confronts Han about this will occur, and once that's done Elizabeth Peralez will invite you to her apartment, where she'll reward your efforts.
Once you're done with the quest, you will get some money and exp from the Peralez couple and a poster of Jefferson Peralez's campaign for your apartment. However, you can also continue with a new quest involving River if you want to romance him or wait for a call from Jefferson Peralez.
