Cyberpunk 2077's combat is pretty fun, but unfortunately, you spend most of the game fighting hoards of enemies completely on your own. You might get the odd companion or two for certain missions, but for the most part, you're all that stands between V and Johnny flatlining.

Now, thanks to a new mod, you can call in some backup. Drone Companions from Nexus Mods user Scissors gives you the ability to craft some robotic pals, amassing a droid army to take out your enemies. The droids have to be built rather than simply called upon, but once you've crafted them, they'll follow you around Night City and help you out in combat.

The Drone Companions mod gives you a new operating system, allowing you to craft and control your drone army. Eight TechDecks are available, ranging from Rare to Legendary quality. Of course, you'll need a high Technical Ability to use the more powerful TechDecks.

You can build different quality mechs to follow you around, ranging from standard drones to full-on androids. They all require drone modules to make, so you can't just spam a bunch of mechs to terrorize Night City with. However, it does make for good combat use of the Technical Ability, rewarding you for crafting a V that less focused on hand-to-hand or gun-based fighting.

Perhaps one of the coolest features is that the droids will follow you into vehicles, and will even continue to shoot at enemies from the passenger seats. This is something that even V can't do in the base game, outside of scripted events.

There's a whole lot to this mod, with each category of droid having a bunch of subcategories that focus on different combat skills. It all looks very customizable, so you can tailor your new robotic companions to your play style, making up for any stats that your V lacks.

Drone Companions is available to download on Nexus Mods now. It has already amassed over 10,000 downloads, and has proven to be a hit with fans.
