As promised, CD Projekt Red hosted a livestream today showcasing everything coming in Cyberpunk 2077's next-gen update. Although the gameplay footage ended at roughly five minutes during the livestream, you can watch over half an hour of that footage courtesy of CD Projekt's YouTube channel.

I honestly can't tell the difference between the PS5 and Xbox Series X footage, so it seems on the surface at least that both consoles will receive equally amazing performance updates. This includes new and better environment effects, ray-traced lighting, and much smoother frame rates thanks to dynamic scaling. You'll also enjoy faster loading times and "a variety of other visual and technical improvements.”

You’ll have two options to play on PS5 or Xbox Series X “Performance” mode will provide 4K resolution at 60 fps with “small and rare frame-drops”, while “Ray Tracing” mode enables ray-traced shadows while dropping frames down to 30 fps. Only Performance mode is available on Xbox Series S, but it only provides 30 fps at 1440p resolution.

PS5 players will also enjoy DualSense integration. Those fancy haptic feedback triggers will make driving feel far more realistic alongside other more intimate activities one can perform in Night City.

The next-gen update is available now alongside patch 1.5, which is a massive content update that revamps much of Cyberpunk 2077’s gameplay, as well as a free trial on Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5. The free trial lets anyone on the current-gen consoles play for 30 days or five hours, after which they’ll have to purchase the game to continue playing. Both consoles can find their free trials in their respective digital storefronts.

Even previous-gen Cyberpunk owners will be interested in update 1.5 thanks to the massive content drop CD Projekt Red is bringing to their open-world shooter. Expect a massive perk tree overhaul that resets everyone’s skills, better driving physics, revamped enemy and crowd AI, new apartment and character customizations, and much more.

Cyberpunk 2077 update 1.5 is available now on all platforms.
