Cyberpunk 2077 Patch 1.2 is scheduled to release by the end of March, and CD Projekt Red today offered a sneak peek at its contents. The biggest changes include a reworked driving system, updates to dodging mechanics, and a police force that will no longer spawn behind your back.

CD Projekt Red's latest game isn't without its flaws, but one of the most frustrating issues is the seemingly inhuman response time of the Night City police force. All too often, cops will spawn right behind V as soon as you commit a crime. Turns out that the NCPD isn't that great at their job – it was just a nasty bug.

"This is an important step in addressing the behavior of the police in our game," Patryk, lead gameplay designer, and Lukasz, technical design coordinator, wrote in the announcement. "It should decrease the problem of NPCs spawning behind players' backs and create an impression that it takes some time for the police to arrive at the crime scene after the crime has been reported. We've also added a recon 'drone' unit to create the feeling of the police assessing the situation.”

That's not the only big fix coming to Cyberpunk 2077 in Patch 1.2, as you'll also find a huge overhaul to driving mechanics – which much of the community found to be a bit lackluster.

"We have added a Steering Sensitivity slider to the Options menu," announced senior vehicle programmer, Seamus. "This allows the steering speed for all vehicles and all input devices to be slowed down, without affecting the maximum turn radius."

The team discovered cars were difficult to control when running at lower frame rates, a problem traced back to a few lines of code. Once Patch 1.2 comes out, cars should handle the same regardless of frame rate drops.

As for movement on foot, you'll soon have the ability to toggle off the "double-tap to dodge" functionality, which was causing players to accidentally lurch forward at inopportune times.

Cyberpunk 2077 Patch 1.2 does not yet have a release date, although it's still scheduled to arrive before the end of March.
