Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is doing wonders for its video game counterpart, with Cyberpunk 2077's player count more than tripling after the anime hit Netflix. The Edgerunners show, as well as the crossover update in the game itself, seems to be having the same effect as The Witcher's Netflix adaptation, giving the player count a boost and likely selling more copies of the game.

According to SteamDB (via Eurogamer), Cyberpunk 2077 is currently the seventh most popular single-player game on Steam. It's currently sitting at a player count of 61,449 at the time of writing - which is also its 24-hour peak. This comes not just after the anime renewed interest in the series, but after more quality-of-life updates were added to the game, making another trip around Night City far more enjoyable.

Thanks to its new updates and anime, Cyberpunk 2077 is now ahead of incredibly popular PC games such as Rainbow Six Siege, Stardew Valley, Elden Ring, Rocket League, and more. Of course, this doesn't even account for console players, as the game is also available across Xbox and PlayStation.

This time last month, Cyberpunk had 16,398 players - meaning the recent news tripled the player count. This is the highest it's been in some time, with the game last reaching this figure around February 2021, just months after launch.

All in all, it's a good indicator that after a rough release, Cyberpunk 2077 is once again in most players' good graces. It remains to be seen if the game can hold onto this playerbase, but even if it doesn't, this is quite the turnaround. And with more updates and an entire DLC campaign to come, it's likely that this figure will be smashed once again.

Cyberpunk 2077 is available on PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Google Stadia. Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is available to stream on Netflix.
