Cyberpunk 2077 is a game full of distractions, actions, and commotions. This sensory overload is already evident when taking a stroll down the street. When in combat, the muzzle flashes, grenades, and bullets from every direction all amplify the overwhelming environment. So how do you line up a good shot when all this is going down?

Cyberpunk 2077: All Iconic Pistols, Ranked & Where To Find Them
There are loads of excellent handguns in CD Projekt Red's Cyberpunk 2077, here are the locations of the best (and worst) pistols.

The easy answer is that you don't. Trying to get off the perfect headshot during a hailstorm of deadly projectiles will mean taking more damage than the damage you cause. This is why smart weapons are around, to help mitigate standing around and trying to aim perfectly. Some of the guns leave a lot to be desired, but when you find the best smart weapon in Cyberpunk 2077 that feels made just for you, odds are good that you'll probably never go back.

Updated October 28, 2023, by Sean Murray: With the addition of Phantom Liberty, Cyberpunk 2077 has new smart iconic smart weapons to evaluate. We've taken a look at all the new guns added in the recent updates and slotted them into this list.

11 Divided We Stand

Divided We Stand 2x1 Cyberpunk 2077

Weapon Type

Smart

Base Weapon

D5 Sidewinder

Iconic Effect

Target five enemies at once, added chemical damage with high chance explode into toxic clouds and/or apply poison

With a chance to poison and the ability to target up to five enemies at a time, how could this smart assault rifle not be amazing? This is not to knock the poison, it's great against organic targets, and due to those toxic clouds, it even has an element of crowd control.

But comparing the stats of this gun to those of every other iconic smart weapon in Cyberpunk 2077, it has the lowest overall DPS by far. If you really like the automatic nature of the weapon, do yourself a favor and grab one of the two submachine guns on this list, you'll notice an instant upgrade. The gold gun with the NUSA flag on the grip is iconic enough, but it's all sizzle and not enough steak.

Where To Find Divided We Stand

Cyberpunk 2077 Stadium Love And Divided We Stand Location

The proper way to get the Divided we stand is to win the "Stadium Love" shooting event. But players who don't mind getting their hands dirty can go ahead and wipe out the Sixers and take the gun by force.

10 Yasha

Cyberpunk 2077 Yasha

Weapon Type

Smart

Base Weapon

Tsunami Ashura

Iconic Effect

Single-shot seeking bullet deals high damage, two available mod slots

Yasha is essentially a Tsunami Ashura X-MOD2. Just like the X-MOD2 series of weapons, it has slightly better handling and always has two open mod slots. However, the Ashura is a smart weapon that fires a single round, so having slightly better handling is absolutely meaningless.

Those two mod slots offer little additional utility for the Yasha's one-shot, one-kill usage, and dedicated snipers will likely want something with a slightly higher fire rate. Still, netrunners wielding smart guns can get some mileage out of this sniper rifle.

Where To Find Yasha

Cyberpunk 2077 Yasha Location

You're unfortunately unable to get Yasha as of the time of this writing. Yasha was available as part of a Twitch giveaway until October 21, 2023, but now you can't get it without using console commands. However, a regular Ashura with two mod slots is basically the same gun, you just have to find it as a random drop.

9 Kappa X-MOD2

Cyberpunk 2077 Kappa X-Mod2

Weapon Type

Smart

Base Weapon

Kappa

Iconic Effect

Improved weapon handling, guaranteed two mod slots.

The X-MOD2 gimmick is that you get a top-tier version of the basic weapon with slightly improved stats and a guaranteed two open mod slots. For the Kappa, that means slightly faster lock-on time on two targets at once, slightly faster weapon swap speed, slightly faster aim-down-the-sights, and that’s about it.

The Kappa X-MOD2 is a fine candidate for the Hackatomy iconic smart gun mod, but otherwise, it’s just a slightly better Kappa. It’s outclassed by most other iconic smart guns, including the Crimestopper discussed later on.

Where To Find Kappa X-MOD2

Cyberpunk 2077 Kappa X-Mod2 Location 2

The good news about the Kappa X-MOD2 is that it’s extremely easy to find. Just head to the point about halfway between the Terra Cognita and the Luxor High Wellness Spa fast travel points and look for the small building with a metal panel that has a big yellow splotch on it. You’ll need 10 Body to move the panel. Then just crouch walk through the small path that opens up and claim the Kappa X-MOD2 in the case.

8 Crimestopper

Cyberpunk 2077 Crime Stopper 2

Weapon Type

Smart

Base Weapon

Kappa

Iconic Effect

33-percent increased crit chance for 10 seconds after switching to this weapon. 8-percent chance of uploading the Cripple Movement quickhack her hit. Increase crit damage by 50 percent. Reduced reload time and aim down sights time by 20 percent.

You'll want to be switching to Crimestopper to get the most out of this gun, which means using this as part of a dedicated smart gun build. Be sure to have the Quick Draw perk for faster swaps.

Although it doesn't have the multiple-target capabilities of Genjiroh, Crimestopper can be just as deadly when given an already high crit chance.

Where To Find Crimestopper

Cyberpunk 2077 Crimestopper location

You'll find Crimestopper inside a travel bag in VIP Room 06 of the Heavy Hearts club during the gig "Heaviest of Hearts." You'll need the Phantom Liberty DLC to get this pistol.

7 Yinglong

Yinglong Cyberpunk 2077

Weapon Type

Smart

Base Weapon

G-58 Dian

Iconic Effect

Additional electric damage, small chance to apply EMP on hit

What is the biggest drawback of using a submachine gun? The inaccurate kickback. The smart modifier removes this drawback and so you're left with a gun really ready to do some serious damage in combat. The shock chance seems low, but the unrivaled quantity of bullets essentially guarantees that it happens after emptying every single clip.

The EMP and electrical damage are superior against robots, so while other guns higher up on this list might have more versatility, keep this in your toolbox whenever inorganic machines threaten you. You'll knock out their systems and push them down like a sack of hammers.

Where To Find Yinglong

Cyberpunk 2077 Location of The Yinglong Schematic

To get the Yinglong:

  • Kill the leader during the Suspected Crime Activity in Wellsprings.
  • Take the schematic off of his body.
  • Craft it!

6 Skippy

V looking at Skippy

Weapon Type

Smart

Base Weapon

HJKE-11 Yukimura

Iconic Effect

Guaranteed headshots (in Headshot Only mode) or guaranteed limb shots (in Limbs Only mode), will sometimes fire randomly, and it talks... a lot

Skippy is a lovely little Smart gun that you can just pick up off the ground. It behaves largely like a standard Yukimura, except for one very notable exception: pick the right settings, and Skippy provides 100-percent headshots, guaranteed.

When you first grab Skippy, it'll ask you whether you want Puppy-Loving Pacifist mode or Stone Cold Killer mode. Select Puppy mode; this will make Skippy shoot only limbs, but after 50 kills and a few days, it'll ask some philosophical questions to which V should respond either "I don't know" or "I'm not having a conversation with my gun." After that, it'll permanently switch to Stone Cold Killer and only lock onto heads.

However, Skippy isn't perfect. It'll occasionally just go off without you pulling the trigger, which makes it a liability in stealth missions, and not everyone will like Skippy's constant chatter. Also, it'll eventually ask to be returned to Regina Jones, although you can ignore this request if you just want to keep Skippy forever.

Where To Find Skippy

Cyberpunk 2077 Skippy Location On Map

Oddly, this gun isn't stashed away or contained on a boss. You can find Skippy near a corpse in a back alley in Heywood.

5 Genjiroh

Genjiroh Cyberpunk 2077

Weapon Type

Smart

Base Weapon

HJKE-11 Yukimura

Iconic Effect

Fires four rounds per shot, magazine size increased by 6, tracks up to 6 targets, increased projectile speed, bonus electrical damage, and increased chance to apply shock

No other gun on the list has as many modifications as the Genjiroh. The electrical damage and shock chance both keep organic enemies locked down, and it dispatches any robotic enemies in the opening wave of fire.

The gun would be ranked higher, but the modifications actually provide a couple of sneaky penalties. Firing four bullets at once dries out the gun fast, even with an increased magazine size. And targeting six enemies at once is actually a bit too many as it spreads out the damage too evenly instead of killing one after another. Still, it's a solid choice for almost any build.

Where To Find Genjiroh

Cyberpunk 2077 Location Of The Genjiroh

During the "Play it Safe" mission, a closed door on floor 21 can be opened with either 11 in Tech or by entering the code 2906. Strangely, there's also another Genjiroh sitting on a desk at Arasaka Estate, which becomes available during Act 2.

4 Ogou

Cyberpunk 2077 Ogou

Weapon Type

Smart

Base Weapon

A-22B Chao

Iconic Effect

First two-round burst of explosive rounds that have a high chance of dismemberment. Each dismemberment increases both crit and bleed chance.

The A-22B Chao is a joke of a smart pistol. Ogou, on the other hand, is a monster. Firing two explosive rounds with each trigger pull, Ogou already deals twice as much damage as a regular Chao, but its increased crit and bleed chance with each dismemberment allows it to tear through entire crowds with ease.

Where To Find Ogou

Cyberpunk 2077 Ogou Location

You can find Ogou during gig "Treating Symptoms" in Dogtown. Loot it from the remains of one of the security robots in the final room of the Voodoo Boys' hideout.

3 Prototype Shingen: Mark V

Shingen Mark V Cyberpunk 2077

Weapon Type

Smart

Base Weapon

TKI-20 Shingen

Iconic Effect

Tracks up to three targets, fires explosive rounds with a chance to burn

The other iconic submachine gun is specialized at killing robotics, this one is specialized at killing everything. Able to target three enemies at once with explosive damage, the DPS increase is immediately noticeable.

The rapid-fire nature of this gun will give you the feeling of shooting off a bunch of small grenades. And if you time out how quickly the enemies go down, that visual image is not all that far from the truth. Explosive rounds really knock enemies around, so using this against a single target can keep them stun-locked.

Where To Find Shingen Mk V

Cyberpunk 2077 Prototype Shingen Mark V Location

Unsurprisingly, enemies did not want V to get ahold of this smart weapon. They've locked the Prototype Shingen: Mark V in a shipping container marked 667. It can be accessed during the "Gimme Danger" mission.

You can actually get the Prototype Shingen earlier than the "Gimme Danger" mission. Just head to the Arasaka Industrial Park at the beginning of Act 2 and it'll be there waiting in shipping container 667.

2 Ba Xing Chong

Ba Xing Chong Cyberpunk 2077

Weapon Type

Smart

Base Weapon

L-69 Zhuo

Iconic Effect

Fires explosive homing rounds, greatly increased chance to dismember enemies

Shotguns are already powerful weapons, but Ba Xing Chong escalates that power to a whole new level. While other shotguns fire inaccurate clouds of pellets, Ba Xing Chong's projectiles will always find their mark. Every. Single. Time.

Additionally, the iconic nature of this weapon has a chance to knock down enemies and because it fires so many projectiles at once, the odds of the knockdown are really pretty good. All shotguns are better against melee enemies, but this obliterates close targets; even bosses go down after a few shots from Ba Xing Chong.

Where To Find Ba Xing Chong

Cyberpunk 2077 Ba Xing Chong Location

To get the Ba Xing Chong:

  • Acquire the access code to Adam Smasher's vault from his freshly slain corpse.
  • Raid the vault in Ebunike.
  • Take the schematic.
  • Craft it!

Because you can't get Adam Smasher's access code until the end of the game, Ba Xing Chong can't be used until you've beaten the game at least once. Reloading to the "Point of No Return" gives you the opportunity to perform any quests you missed and also pick up any weapons that become available after beating the game.

1 Hercules 3AX

Cyberpunk 2077 Hercules 3AX-1

Weapon Type

Smart

Base Weapon

None

Iconic Effect

Hits have a 10 percent chance of inflicting severe poison. Poisoned enemies suffer a 20 percent increased crit chance. Defeating poisoned enemies causes them to explode into a pool of acid, which causes damage over time to all enemies standing in the pool. Doesn't require a Smart Link to use.

The Hercules is called an assault rifle, but it honestly feels more like a cross between a machine gun and a smart gun. Firing from the hip doesn't fire homing rounds but instead has an increased fire rate, allowing you to completely saturate an area. Aiming down the sights activates the gun's built-in Smart Link, firing homing rounds at a lower fire rate.

That would be pretty good on its own, but the Hercules sweetens the deal with massive poison AOE that causes increased crit chance. This weapon can mow down entire crowds on its own and is useful in any situation that calls for carnage over stealth.

Where To Find Hercules 3AX

Cyberpunk 2077 Hercules 3AX Location-1

You can find the Hercules 3AX during the gig "Roads to Redemption". Check around the shooting range and warehouse section of the Nighthawks Rehabilitation Center. You'll find the Hercules sitting on a workbench inside an open gun case.
