CD Projekt Red estimates that Cyberpunk 2077 has sold over 13 million copies, even after taking into account refunds across various platforms.

The news came from the company's latest regulatory announcement, in an effort to relax investors and show that Cyberpunk 2077 is still off to a strong start – at least, as far as revenue is concerned. Pulling in 13 million sales just a few weeks after release puts it in great company, and the studio seems optimistic about its future.

"The Management Board of CD Projekt Red… based on reports obtained from digital distribution paltforms and data collected from physical distributors… estimates that by 20 December inclusive gamers have purchased over 13 million copies of Cyberpunk 2077," reads the report. "This figure represents the estimated volume of retail sales across all hardware platforms (factoring in returns submitted by retail clients in brick-and-mort as well as digital storefronts), i.e. the "sell-through" figure, less all refund requests e-mailed directly to the company by the publication date of this report in the frame of the "Help Me Refund" campaign."

In other words, a lot of people still own a copy of Cyberpunk 2077.

CD Projekt Red concludes the announcement by stating it felt compelled to release this information due to "its potential impact on investment-related decisions." Investors are no doubt aware of the backlash Cyberpunk 2077 received upon its launch, and many of them are probably nervous about what's going to happen with their money. CD Projekt Red's stock has been all over the place since launching Cyberpunk 2077, and this latest announcement seems like an bold move to try and keep investors glued to the company.

Sony, Microsoft, and plenty of retail outlets are all offering refunds for Cyberpunk 2077 – something that's great for consumers, and is likely cutting into CD Projekt Red's profits. We're not sure if Cyberpunk 2077 will see a lot of sales in the coming months, but it'll definitely be interesting to see how the company – and investors – respond as we move into 2021.

Cyberpunk 2077 has a long road ahead of it, but let's hope next year brings some good news to folks playing on Xbox One and PS4.
